“A Wonderful Base to Explore From”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is a wonderful hostel.
The staff are really helpful and friendly, I even overheard them calling airlines and other hostels/hotels for travellers who couldn't speak German.
Yes, it is in the red light district, but the security is great. Also, the district itself feels really safe, even when you're walking at night. I was travelling with another girl, and we only encountered one street that we decided to avoid on a night stroll.
Rooms can be noisy, as the streetsweepers and garbage trucks patrol the streets in the early morning. If possible, ask for a room not facing the main street.
Breakfast is free if you stay 3 nights or more, and it's BRILLIANT. Lots of variety in terms of bread, spreads, meats, cheeses, sliced tomato, cereals, and more. Tea, coffee and water are free and available in the wonderful common room/bar all day and night. Pasta and crepe nights are a great opportunity to meet fellow travellers, and a Godsend for the jetlagged who are too tired to venture out into the city proper to get more traditional fare.
You can walk to Paul's Kirsch and the city centre in 15 minutes or so, or walk to a tram stop in 5 and hop on that. So it's easy to get around. Plus, as mentioned by most, it's only a 5 minute walk from the Frankfurt train station.
Rooms were clean and spacious. Beds comfortable, and lockers under the bed were secure. Each bunk has its own light and power socket. The bathrooms are also cleaned regularly, though the doorless shower screens mean that you have to ensure your clothes are well out of the splash zone, and you need to squigee the floor down post-shower. Not really a problem though.
Also, there's a lift.
I really can't recommend this place highly enough.

Room Tip: If possible, ask for a room not facing the main road to avoid the late night noise of street sweeper...

Stayed here on Oct. 20th due to 24hour layover in Frankfurt. It is really close to the airport (10min train ride from airport to main station then 5min walk from main station).
They keep excellent maintenance of the facilities. Have special events planned every night. Staffs are super friendly and all speak excellent English.

it was my first hostel and i regret that all the next hostels i gonna visit will definately be worse than this!everything was great and do not be scared about the area, junkies and all these people are really afraid of disturbing you, because the police is very strict with them and patrols all the time.also,we had a great free breakfast,as we made a booking of 3 nights.

I stayed at Five Elements for two nights in Septeber. I was travelling by myself and booked into an eight person dorm. The dorm was extremely clean, the bed linen immaculate, there was a large lockable cupboard under the bunks for each person as well as a shelf and light for each bed. The toilets were alwasy spotless, the shower was lovely (better than my shower at home!) and I didn't have to wait once to use the shower or toilet.

The location fo the hostel is excellent - right by the main station and only a 5/10 minute walk into the centre of town.

The hostel is in the red light district and as a woman walking by myself, even in daylight, I did get some hassle. In particular, the hostel has excellent security, but on a couple of occassions I had to wait to be let in the fornt door and recieved some hassle then. However, I would not let this put you off staying there as the location and standard of the hostel is excellent, and the hassle I got is no worse than I recieved in an city in Asia.

The bar and lounge area of the hostel is lovely and a great place to meet other people. I went on the pub crawl on the Thursday and had a great night - the staff were doing their best to get everyone involved and making sure everyone had a good time.

Overall I would highly recommend this hostel and would definietly stay there again.

This was a really nice hostel with a great atmosphere and all the amenities you need. They also offer free dinners on some nights and lots of activities for guests to partake in. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was great. The area is a little sketchy but the hostel itself was fantastic..

Nice place!!! The staff was very friendly, helpful and fun! I'm still in contact with some of them! The hostel is very clean, big, nice to stay at... The lobby is great, you can rent a Laptop for free [with Passport] and all the nights you can spend a lot of time playing pool, watching TV..etc etc... and drinking good quality beer...
Surroundings is a problem if you want a place to relax... It's in a noisy place because it's right on the red lights...... But for my, it was quite OK... [Besides that, location is good... just a couple of blocks from the Main Station and a 5-10 minutes walking to the most important places in Frankfurt...]
Breakfast is awesome, giant lockers! and all the building is modern and everything works perfectly [one day, the elevator was out of order and the staff gave to all guest a breakfast for free :D ]

I'm going to recommend this hostel to my friends!

Room Tip: I've slept in the top floor and it was all right...

Friendly staff, very clean. The neighborhood isn't the best but it's close to the train station and other attractions. The security is excellent too. Ideal place to stay if you're just passing a night or if you're traveler who just needs a bed and a shower. There's a TV and a pool table downstairs and the hostel has a different event each night.
