“The worst in Frankfurt”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

I stayed in many of the Frankfurt main station area hotels and pensions but this is by far the worst. I know it's well located and it's one of the cheapest but if you try out some travel websites, you'll get a decent room for the same price - at least I did. Here, they do everything to make you feel uncomfortable, starting with the reception up to the bathrooms. I guess their main purpose is to cash in on the fair and exhibition guest who have to shell out 200 EUR for an average room in Frankfurt and Pension Alpha still does it at 140. And of course it's insecure as they never ask for your name when asking for the key (which is quite common for the lower end of hotels BTW). Better check Colour Hotel or Tourist, who often come for only five Euros more.

This is a basic hotel on the cheaper end of the scale so I didn't expect a lot and it met my expectations. The location is brilliant and the room was comfortable enough. When I checked in the staff member was incredibly rude and he continued to be throughout my stay - however, all the other staff were very pleasant and friendly. The other thing I didn't like is that you had to hand your room key over to the reception staff each time you left the hotel (even if just leaving for 15 minutes), and ask for it back when you returned - however, not once did they check my details upon return, so they could have given the wrong person my room key. Therefore, it isn't very secure.

The hotel is only a few minutes away from the train station (which is itself 15 minutes away by train from the airport). The breakfast was basic but ok, the internet not great but also ok. The room was dirty: the carpet on the floor looked disgusting, the bathroom was obviously not vacuumed, I found hair in various places, etc. There is no air conditioner and when the window is open, the room is quite noisy.

Also, the staff was not helpful when I contacted them by email prior to arrival.
Finally, the terms and conditions seemed a bit abusive to me: cancellation or modification 60 days before the arrival date for free, after this the whole price of the stay is charged.

There are plenty of other hotels in the area, next time I will go somewhere else.

I was here a weekend with my girlfriend.
The location is in a street directly in front of the South exit of the Frankfurt main station, and close to a cross with taxi and bus stop, so there are always people and it is not so bad as other train station area.
It is less than 2 minutes walking from the station.
The room is small but clean, there is also a small desk, and the shower was big enough to not touch the walls while washing.
Considering the price, and the breakfast included, it is perfect if you just want to visit the city and maybe take the train to somewhere else (Koln is 1 hour far by high speed train, the Rhine valley less).

My husband and I stayed here 2 nights. The plus is that it is very close to the train station (about 3 mins walking) but it's in a sketchy part of town. Both nights ambulances drove by continuously and the first night there were a group of young men that started yelling at each other in the streets at 4am, I expected a fight to break out. The place was suppose to come with Internet included but both evenings we were there the internet was out and when we complained to the reception all he ever said was that we have to talk to the owner in the morning. It was working in the morning but we weren't going to spend our day on the Internet, that's what the evening was for. The place also includes breakfast but it's from 6-10 and if you miss it, tough luck. They ask for money up front and don't care after that.

Room Tip: If you can go somewhere else do so. All the buses and metro leave from right in front of the train s...

This is a place to steal money from people. Once you check in. They will ask for more money. e.g. if somebody visits you for 5 minutes=15 euro. If you resist , you will be ask to leave. This is a terrible place. Never come here.

Room Tip: Never come to Pension Alpha

This is a very good pension with big and clean rooms, nice bathrooms. The pension is situated at 50 m form central station from Frankfurt and is very close to the city centre. The price si very good too. The breakfast is also very good for the price that you pay. Finally is a very good location for a night or transit night.
