“A mob scene”
Reviewed February 1, 2012

We visited in Jan 2012 on a rainy Sunday afternoon. We trained up from Frankfurt, walked through town for a while and then went to the therme. There was a 10 minute line to enter . After struggling with the electronic chip we got some help going through the turn styles. We opted to do the upstairs sauna area only .There are separate dressing rooms with lockers that can be locked with your chip. The men's room is tight, crowded and I was lucky to find an empty locker. There were no empty lockers in the ladies room . After showering, you enter the common area where there was a sea of humanity, almost all German. The crowd was much younger than other thermes we have experienced and there were some small kids with parents. The saunas were packed. We stayed about two hours and left. The lines to enter as we departed were very long and looked like it was capacity controlled. Cleanliness was questionable as we so no one cleaning.
I much prefer the Kaiser Friedrich Therme in Wiesbaden which we visited the previous day.

“Great way to spend a day”
Reviewed January 6, 2010

The other reviews describe the place very well - great pools, spas and the like - for all ages and where you can wear swimming gear plus the upstairs sauna area where there is like 8-10 sauna's or steam rooms where you can't - just a towel.

When you enter you receive a token which also allows you to charge any drinks, beers, food etc from the restaurant to - it also sits on your wrist as your locker key.

There are two sets of changing rooms, downstairs near the pool which you can change in a booth - my yourself or with your partner into swimming gear then go to the showers or you can go upstairs where the girls and the guys changing rooms are separate, but you don't need to change into anything as the sauna area is textile free.

If you have a swimming costume and do go downstairs there are numerous pigeon holes where you can put your bathers whilst you use the sauna's and the steam rooms naked.

Being an Australia and naked co-ed bathing is not normal (i.e I had never done it before) in Australia it was a little odd initially but soon worked out that there were different ages, types of people etc in the sauna that it was not really a problem after a few minutes. There were couples, young and old, groups of two or three women, men or even singles or groups of guys and girls. Not dodgy at all.

Some people cover up (with towels), some just walk around naked - nothing to be too worried about! There are also areas to sleep, catch some rays inside (free use of solarium) or outside - but I guess not in winter. In winter they have a roof that goes across some of the outside area which meant

All in all was a great way to spend a day that I had free with not much to do, sitting around a pool or in the spa area. Will go back next time I am in Frankfurt.

Best place to relax and forget the daily work routine. One of the best spas in the country! Clean, excellent service and a lot of facilities.

“The most unusual part of the European Vacation”
Reviewed December 18, 2007

Plan to spend two or three hours at Taunus Therme. If you're shy, (and don't want to participate in public nudity) you can spend a wonderful afternoon in the largest indoor (and by swimming THROUGH a wall outdoor) pool I've ever experienced. There are enormous hot tubs and a number of waterfalls and jet sprays to relax and invogorate you.

Once you trek upstairs, you'll shed your suits and take sauna rooms that vary from 45 degrees celsius up to 100 degrees! There's several of them, and plenty of indoor and outdoor pools to jump into once you've baked in the sauna.

My most incredible memory of Taunus Therme is walking naked from one sauna to the next, out doors during a snow storm - and stopping to jump in the pool. What's incredible is that there are so many peoople doing the same thing - young and old, lots of families, groups of friends, and even couples.

IT's worth the trek to Bad Homburg to check out this unusual European Vacation.
