“Very nice and friendly place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

I used to come here quite often about a year ago, so the review might be a little dated, but to my knowledge the place or the menu has not changed much since my last visit.
Great cooking in a small-feel restaurant in a beautiful old house. staff is very frienldy, but tends to get overwhelmed when the place is full. outside seating inthe summer is great and quiet despite the nearby street.
food ranges across several styles, but all are tasty. Recommendations include: the home made sausages for appetizers, game whenever available and the sushi. used to be only monday's wi a chef from the city, but might be a constant offering now. Prices are above average for the area, but very well worth every Euro spent.

“Accommodated a large party”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

We were a party of about 16 and were served without a problem. The resturant has a nice selection of bottled and draft beer. The assortment of sausages was a nice starter, although we were left to guess the types. For main courses the schnitzel was the winner. The grilled sole had a nice crust but wasn't seasoned much. The duck (for 2) was tasty but heavy. It was supposed to be carved table side, but the resturant is too crowded for that. The sides of scalloped potatoes and the cucumber-onion salad we're superb. The ambience is warm and rustic. Worth a trip if you are in the area.

“We expected more”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013

This was our first visit and we decided to try their lunch menu. We ordered Zwiebelrostbraten (roast) with Spitzkohl (cabbage) and Bratkartoffeln (fried potatoes). The cabbage was excellent, but the roast and potatoes were only average. The menu offered many selections which are hard to find at other restaurants. If you like to experiment, then this restaurant may be for you.
The dining room had far too many tables for it's size, making us feel uncomfortable, and the service was typical German (they don't work for tips). We felt rushed and will not be back.

“Excellent food and terrible service from the owner! Far too many tables in little space. You can sit with your back in the entran”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2012

Upon arrival we were given our table for 6. It felt like sitting in central railway station.A restaurant of that level cannot squeeze 80 guests in a room for 40.My back was icecold because my seat was 1m away from the main entrance and the outside temperature was -4. With my front I was 2m away from a fireplace with a big fire going.Although we asked to change the table and there were other tables available the staff was not willing to help. The food (goose)we had was very good but we asked for more vegetables which never came. The ladies toilet was dirty, full of paper on the floor and stank like Autobahnraststaette. When we pointed out these failures the reaction was unacceptable. The owner behaved like a teenager shouting we could tell anybody about the bad service,he didn't care.
