“Dripping with Atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2014

A great long, low place in the cellar of a big building, darkly lit with candles, and you are seated on long low benches. 15 of us went for a huge barrel of dark beer that's stood up by your table and you pour yourself - great fun! We all went for the pork selection that came on a hug piece of treetrunk - huge piles of sausages, ham, meat loaf, pork belly with a huge plate of cabbage and apple mash, rounded of with a big garnish of juicy radishes.

The waiting staff were on the slow side, but when you got their attention, they got their skates on!

Overall - highly recommended!

“Food, Fun and Beer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2014

Went to Groninger on a rec from friends. In a step down part of a large nice building. Lots of food smells and conversations going on. Great vibe. Had some various foods (ok side of average) and many steins of beer (very good). Not cheap but worth it.

“Great spot for a beer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2014

Although the food looked good, we only went for the beer and were not dis-appointed. Quite a large underground bar with friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. Just over 10 minutes walk from cental station.

“Real German beer brewery”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2014

Very, very interesting place, also for a big party. We were there with 200 people (conference) and everybody liked it. Especially the beer at the beginning of the table!

“Four meats and a veg”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2014

Don't let my title put you off. We went as a group of nine, and were all sat round a large almost square - much more convivial than a long, thin rectangular. For €77 we got a 25 litre keg of beer, soaked up by a huge plate of the set special (€16 a head) - a vast surf board of two different sausages, pork belly, pork meat loaf, a mountain of mash, and sauerkraut, plus something I've never seen before, a bunch of super sized radishes to tear off as a cursory acknowledgement of healthy eating. The pork belly was yummy, perfect crackling and tender pork. Otherwise fine dining this is not, but there was more than enough for our nine giant frames and appetites to match. It's a brew pub, enjoy it for what it is, and it's a helluva lot cheaper than the UK and a warm place to spend a chilly night.
