I had lunch here on a Sunday, this place was super busy, long lines of locals waiting to be seated. This definitely told me something, this place is either good, or is either good!

Family operated and located in a not so touristic area, you will understand why this is a spot to visit, as soon as you enter the place, it is warm and you can smell the magnificent food being prepared in an open kitchen where cooked are moving very quick in order to accommodate the crowds.

Once seated, they will offer you the house wine, and you pay as you consume, very dangerous idea by the way. The food was absolutely amazing ,prices are very reasonable and especially on Sunday since they offer a lunch menu with even lower prices.

If you are in the Hamburg area, go see this place and order the Dorado fish, grilled with some tasty roasted potatoes, very very good place!

This was on our itinerary based on a recommendation from a friend who claimed it was his favorite restaurant in Hamburg. We came in with for a very early dinner at 4:30pm to find the restaurant completely full. It smelled wonderful, full of seafood goodness. We were just in time to order from the Mittagstisch menu, which ends at 5pm. Everything was under 10 euros. We got two fish soup appetizers, a fish stew and a grilled Dorade Royale (not really sure what kind of fish this is). Loved all of it, especially the fish soup. The house wine was 2 euro per glass (!!) and the complimentary bread (unfortunately this was cold) came with the most delicious creamy garlic sauce.

Would have liked to try the paella if we had more time, but alas. Excellent meal all in all.

I came here several times, the menu here is variety. The price is good, not too expensive. Seafood is fresh. You should call to book before you come

We had our first meal in Hamburg here and it was fantastic!
Neither of us speak German but we communicated nonetheless.
We ordered a bottle of house wine (1 Litre!) and a seafood platte with half lobster, a crab, mussels, squid, sea snails etc (I cannot remember the name, but it is listed as the last one of their specials, about 36€).
It definitely worth the money. We were both quite hungry and we could not finish the whole thing!
Lovely setting as well, with candles in bottles, it makes you feel like in a pirate ship.
Definitely recommended!

smack in the middle of the colourful schanze in hamburg - this is a no-frills restaurant with a lot of rustic flair. don't go here if you expect to be pampered in a shiny atmosphere 'cos it's all about the food! tables are quite tightly packed and there's less light-i guess they serve outdoors in good summery weather too.

chose their "salmon a la sepia" and it packed quite a punch with it's portion size - thankfully, i was hungry! it was bursting with flavorful tomatoes and the sauce was rich and tasty.

the only downside is that they're quite laidback and it takes a while to catch the attention of a waiter. but if you like a lazy lunch and don't mind spending quality time with your plate - this is the place to be! it's unbeatable pricewise too :)
