We walked down Deichstraase and was really impressed with the beautiful buildings. The Great Fire of Hamburg started here in 1842 in a cigar factory. The blaze destroyed a third of the city.

The street has now been largely restored into bars and restaurants. It was nice to sit outside one such establishment and sip an ice-cold beer in the sunshine.

Wander the streets in this are of Hamburg where the architecture is heavily influenced by the close neighbours of Denmark & Netherlands. Just a nice laid back feel and a great place to while away the hours.

Only a short Street but we’ll worth a visit. Lots of interesting shops to browse and some beautiful buildings overlooking one of the canals

Worth a quick look if you are in the area. Historic structures that have been generally repurposed to restaurants and shops. Just a short street. Check out the water (back) side of the buildings too.

Hamburg is just full of places to walk around. This is another one of those and you won't get tired of these especially if you are interested in the history of German architecture.
