This type of townhall shows what kind of leading classes have ruled a city along the centuries. Undoubtedly, this one shows well that a very reach bourgeoisie had been controlling the city for centuries. This is probably one of the biggest and richest townhalls buildings I have ever seen. Don’t miss it. Enjoy!

We visited the Rathaus on our Viking Sky ocean cruise excursion in Hamburg. The entrance hallway and inner courtyard are beautiful - too bad the fountain was still too early to be operating.

One of the finest architectural building in Hamburg.
Beautiful combination of classic and Gothic architecture.
Remenence of the Hanseatic dynasty that establish the beautiful city of Hamburg and made it one of the most important seaports in the world.

I loved the clock, it's beautiful from every angle, there are good restaurants around. It's also a great shopping area.
