I wish I had known this great Italian restaurant before! I have lived several years in Hamburg and I will move to another country. For a farewell dinner with friends, I went to this restaurant because of the good reviews. Now I regret that this was the first time there because it will take some time for me to get the opportunity to return! It was a fantastic dinner!
The restaurant is a bit hidden in the neighborhood of Ottensen but that is just a nice surprise. Because of the warm weather we could sit outside which was comfortable. For the coffee after dinner we went inside and the ambience inside is also really nice. It has a friendly atmosphere and it is clean.
The staff speaks Italian (and German with an accent) and they make you feel welcome in the famous Italian way (relaxed and with humor).
Food is fantastic! The choice in the menu is small which should make your choice easy but what they offer is all so delicious that it is hard to decide what to eat. There is something for the taste of everybody: fish, meat, vegetables, great pastas. I especially liked the dessert with the perfect chocolate cake (soft inside!). I asked for strawberries and cream to add to the desert (which was actually another dessert on the menu) and they had no problem to serve my special wish.
The price of the food is very reasonable.
Parking is a bit of a challenge within the surrounding streets but there is a big parking lot at 5 minutes walk from there.
If you are looking for a relaxed ambience with high quality of food at a good price, then visit this hidden Perl!

I just came back from this restaurant and want to write immediately my review cos this place deserve a really good rating. Despite we got attended immediately, we received as waiting-time-extra a nice marinated cod bruschetta and some delicious olives. As appetizer we got a gorgeous carpaccio and as main entrance Ravioli filled with pumpkin and mushroom sauce and Orecchiette alla Salsiccia.... And on both dishes we made a "scarpetta" with bread to pick up the sauce Quality of food is really high and the attentions and care of the waitresses are a real plus. I'll definitively come back.

Arturo 1919 is probably the best Italian restaurant I have been to. From the moment you sit down and you taste the Olives and the fresh Italian bread, you do know that you can expect something special. 3 of us actually always disliked Olives, but those at Arturo are different, and we all loved them (the olives alone are a reason to come back. Each dish has its own character, it´s own touch which makes it a little bit different from what you have eaten before. IT´s so much more, better and different from the usual standard Italian Pizza & Pasta. The antipasti are delicious, and I would absolutely recommend the Arturo Speciale, which samples all of the best and exquisite antipasti (I promise that most of them you have never tasted before). Quintino, the waiter and co-founder, is also excellent, very considerate and with plenty of knowledge about the products they offer. He also can give you excellent suggestion for the wines (my personal suggestion is the Nero de Troya, a full bodied red wine).
