We stayed at Hotel Pacific for four nights during our annual winter German mini-break. The hotel is well located, only 2-3 minutes from the nearest U-bahn station and only a few stops from the city centre. There is a good choice of shops and restaurants nearby and the lively Reeperbahn is only about a kilometre away too.

As for the hotel, the rooms are clean but basic and the décor somewhat dated. You need to ask if you want en-suite but there are plenty of showers on each floor and nobody ever seemed to be waiting. The reception is manned 24 hours and the staff are friendly and helpful. Drinks are served 24 hours and are reasonably priced (2 Euros for a bottle of beer). We often enjoyed a quiet drink and read on the comfy armchairs. Breakfast is a typical buffet of bread, meats, cheeses and boiled eggs with unlimited coffee. Nothing at all wrong with this, but given the size of the eating area the choice could be better. A little bacon/sausage and yoghurts would be good.

All-in-all the Pacific proved an ideal base for us to explore Hamburg. I would have scored it much higher if the rooms were a bit more modern and with a better choice at breakfast. Thanks again to the friendly staff.

We got into town very late and were thrilled to find an available free parking spot right in front of the hotel. In the morning, we had to move our car just across the lot by 8 a.m. due to construction but could park there for free until we left town. The room was basic and small and the bathroom and shower were just down the hall. It was quiet, clean, and comfortable, and the breakfast was decent. No complaints at all-other than they denied two of our credit cards (which is ridiculous) so we had to pay cash. Normally that's not an issue, but since we were headed to Denmark, we didn't have a lot of Euros. Either the guy didn't know how to work the credit card machine, or they just don't want anyone to pay with a card-which is fine as long as they say that :P

We stayed here in May 2012 for one night, it was very basic but cheap and very clean. The staff were extremely helpful and informative about the area. The tube station is just over the road the hotel is ideally situated for getting about the city. There is a little shopping street just along from the hotel with really nice shops and the whole area although a little tired has a vibrant vibe to it. If you want good value and don't mind a basic decor/amenities this is a good find

This is the hotel where the vast majority of bands stayed while performing at the legendary Star Club. It is steeped in rock and roll history, and as mentioned close to the clubs of the wild Reeperbahn. The Top Ten Club (another club where The Beatles used to play) should still be there. Stay here for the experience!

Found this hotel to be handy for The trendy and upcoming (but still outwardly poor )Shantze area and just off the metro line at Feldstrasse. The St Pauli area and Reeperbahn is also walkable.
Smiling welcome at reception and excellent English spoken by Staff.
The hotel is quite dated in decor, as are the rooms but all is perfectly adiquate for an enjoyable stay at a good price (not easy in Hamburg).Rooms NOT ensuite but we never had to queue for one of the bath or shower rooms which were kept spotless. Breakfast was pleasant with a continental buffet and the Bar and lobby areas had Free WIFI and some comfy seating. Would recommend to seasoned travellers and those on a budget and of course we may even stay again.

Room Tip: rooms at the back are quieter but the view is dull

Having looked for a long time for somewhere affordable in Hamburg we settled for this without particularly high hopes. However, we needn't have worried at all - a 5 minute walk to Feldstrasse station from where it was amazingly less than 10 minutes either to the centre (Rathaus) or St Pauli/port area. The hotel was very clean, and our room was incredibly bright and spacious. We opted for shared bathroom facilities and these were always clean and in the time we were there, we never once saw anyone else using them. We had planned to move to a hostel in the centre but liked the hotel and the area so much that we stayed put for an extra night. Breakfast was typical but generous - cereal, bread, cheese, cold meats. When we had an issue with trying to get a bus to the airport the staff were very helpful and printed information for us - they were generally very friendly. The area itself is great as well - turn right upon exiting the hotel and walk 5 minutes to explore the great cafes, shops and restaurants of Schanzenviertel. There's an excellent "kartoffelhaus" - all manner of exciting potato dishes on Schanzenstrasse and a lovely lounge/late night bar on the way to the metro - I can't recall the name but it was at basement level, with lots of nice sofas and an astra sign outside. Schanze may look a bit scruffy in the day, but it comes alive at night. A great hotel, I'd happily stay again.

I have just come back from Hamburg and my stay in the Hotel Pacific was pretty good. It is situated on a fairly busy main road but my room was towards the back and I had no problems with noise. The hotel itself may need a bit of modernisation (the foyer looks a bit 1970's) but it was clean and well run. Reception staff were all very nice and all spoken excellent English and were only too happy to answer any questions or give advice about the city. The room I had was a decent size, with a shower and toilet in one room, with a wash basin in the opposite corner of the bedroom. The only problem I would say is that the bottom of the bathroom cabinet was about 8-10 inches above the sink, so trying to wash, or rinse your mouth out, after brushing your teeth was a bit tricky. BBC World News was on the TV, in the morning, only and other than that, there were no English language channels. Breakfast was typical of European hotels ie. cold meats, cheese, cereal and boiled eggs, all served in the restaurant, looking out onto the main street. If you don't want to pay 25 euros, to get to the hotel, from the airport, you can take 'Jasper' aiport express bus to the main train station, for 5 euros and then take U-bahn line 3, direction Barmbek and get off at Feldstrasse station. Exit left from the station and walk to the end of the road. Turn right and the hotel is 20 metres on the right.
Overall, for 60 euros a night, I can't complain and would stay here again. By the way, Hamburg is a fantastic city and is well worth a visit.
