I spent three nights here while traveling alone in early December 2012. The location--just off the Reeperbahn--struck me as tacky rather than seedy or dangerous. A fan of the fab four, I liked the location across from Beatlesplatz. A subway stop is also close by. Despite the proximity to the Reeperbahn, I didn't experience any noise from the street outside. But the movements of people in the hall and on the stairs were audible. A significant group of excitable young men were checking in to the hotel as I was checking-out, and my review could have been very different if our bookings had overlapped. It was nice to overhear the owner reminding them that their group was not to disturb other guests during their stay. The room furnishings were dated, the shower very small, but everything was functional and clean. Breakfast was more basic than other German hotels of similar value but not out of proportion to the rates. I was quite satisfied with the value for money and happy to support a family business rather than a chain/franchise hotel. I will stay here again if traveling alone but would upgrade if I were bringing my wife along.

I stayed at the hotel in july 2010 for just a night on my way out of hamburg. The hotel is located off "sinstreet" so you have to be careful while walking around at night. The atmosphere is quite lively outside during the day and night. thankfully the noise dies down by 11pm. If you want to sleep during the day, forget it ! its too noisy with loud music blaring from the neighbourhood.
The rooms themselves are quite decent for the price. No aircon (obviously) or even ceiling fans. the rooms have twin beds which are quite comfortable. Pillows are soft. Rooms are cleaned everyday and fresh towels are available.
The breakfast spread is basic but adequate and the atmosphere is homely. The coffee was absolutely fantastic !
My package included meals at the Joker restaurant 50 m down the street from the auto park.
All this for just 58 euros including tax, makes it a hard bargain to beat for budget travellers.
The hotel is walking distance from the railway station, banks, a variety of restaurants and the docks. taxis are freely available anytime of day or night just outside the hotel.
The staff at check-in desk and in the dining room are very helpful and courteous. They are quite knowledgeable about the area and can be relied on for advice.
wi-fi internet access is available @ 2 euros an hour or 5 euros for 5 hours with coupons issued at the check-in desk.

PROS:
location
price
staff

CONS:
the power sockets are situated under the bed and over the cupboard ! quite difficult to find.

The hotel is basic, but as expected for a two star. Most of the hotels in Hamburg are quite pricey, and if you just want a bed for the night, this is great.

The rooms and general feel is more like a youth hostel, but they are en suite, clean, and quiet. Breakfast is also as expected for a 2* - cold meats, bread, cereal and fruit. The staff are friendly and helpful.

The hotel is based in Reeperbahn ("The Mile of Sin") which means that you are walking past countless sex shops, live shows and the like. It can be unnerving if you are a lone female, but with friends/partner etc...and of course for a stag do, it's absoluitely fine. It's safe, it's just a little "overpowering". (There is also a road where women aren't allowed as there are "naked ladies in the windows" - as the taxi driver put it).

The train station is literally round the corner and it's two stops to the Central Station. we went to see the Lion King and the docks are walking distance for the free shuttle boat to the theatre.
