“Bring you walking shoes”

The interesting part of this area is not for the faint hearted. The wonderful old buildings and fabulous views are well worth the climb. All in a labyrinth of small streets and alleys, real estate value is prime around here. Check it out.

“Lovely trip out from Hamburg”
Reviewed November 4, 2013 via mobile

Stunning setting on the banks of the Elbe. Lovely houses on stepped walkways down to the river. Very relaxing. Nice to sit by the river sipping a drink or two and watching the container ships passing by. Lots of fancy but expensive shops. Great views. Easy access on the train from the Hauptbahnhof.

“Not as pretty as lunanburg”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

Was a little disappointed with this town, it's ok if you like walking, but not enough coffee shops and shops, would not bother to go again.

“Part of old Hamburg”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

For visiting this area you need to be good in walking as the whole walk is mostly on cobblestones and is steep.
The best is to start from up to down as you have a constant great view on the river Elbe. The little roads are winding down the hill and you pass lots of beautiful old maritime style build Villas.

“Stairs and alleys snaking down to the Elbe.”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

Leaving from the Blankenese S-bahn station towards the Elbe you walk through the cozy town center, but soon you come to the best part which is those narrow stairs and alleys that go down towards the banks of the Elbe, turning here and there.
