“Stylish and cosy”
Reviewed April 6, 2014

Loved the travel theme of the hotel. Excellent for business trips, quiet, all amenities at a good standard. Complimentary water and banana for early joggers. Location is perfect, 3 minutes from the U-Bahn, which takes you in about 30 minutes to the airport. Staff are friendly and efficient. There is a leisure space with complimentary tea on the first floor, can be used for team work when on business trips.

Loved the retro décor and especially the vinyl room (even though we don't smoke). Great ambiance, most time I think I've spent in a hotel on a weekend stay (usually too busy sight seeing). Staff friendly and efficient. Well located.

Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and it's just in a perfect location, close to the U-bahn, surronded by shops and bistros and only 10 mins walk from the shopping district. Hotel has a nice stylish nautical theme. Staff were very friendly, one even went to all the trouble of finding a gym for me.
The only one gripe i would have to say that the bed was a bit hard so it was a bit uncomfortable sleeping in it. But i'd recommend this hotel to anyone going to Hamburg for a weekend.

This IS an awesome hotel – Vibrant, nice location, really special and cool.

However the WIFI only worked half the time and when it worked it was very slow. Reception said it was probably because many used it – But hey: As a top shelf design hotel, that's like saying: Our showers only work part of the time because many people are showering...

If you can live with that, I can highly recommend it.

Stayed here for 3 nights last weekend and was very impressed. Traditional it is not! The design aspects, cabin type rooms, cargo ship colours & motifs etc work really well. The staff were very friendly, spoke very good English and were helpful when asked. Loved the vinyl room on the 1st floor, it was a joy to pump out early Al Green through the big Bose speakers.
We ate in the restaurant on the Friday night as the weather was foul. The food was fine and the wine was good and at a non ripoff price too. Only two slight complaints; the hotel suffered like most modern hotels, from being too warm. There was aircon in the room but too noisy to sleep & we couldn't turn off the large wall radiator. And I hope they take notice of this, in the bar there is a selection of bottled beers and two beer taps. One of the reasons we, as a group, chose to go to Germany was for the uniformly great German beer so we were amazed and really disappointed that both draught taps produced Carlsberg! You would think that at least one could have offered a local brew.
That said it didn't spoil our stay and whenever we go back to Hamburg we will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in February. The hotel is very cool and original, modern and fun with lots of interesting details all over.

We got a nice spacious room on 4th floor (421) which was at end of a the corridor. No disturbing noises. The bed was hard, but good to sleep on. The ceiling had fun details that could be seen only in some lighting. The room had interesting books in it (not the Bible), but we would have needed more nights to be able to go through all of them. The lighting in the room was a little bit dark. The wifi worked perfectly.

The hotel is easy to reach from airport - S1 till Jungfernstieg and change to U4 underground line, one stop and you are in front of the hotel.

There is a popular restaurant in the hotel, where they serve breakfast too. We didn't have the breakfast included in our booking, and we found the 17,00 euro fee per person a bit expensive. Get out of the hotel and around the corned there are few places to eat at, for example Lieblingplatz - omelettes 5,00, salads 5,00 and lots of other delicious foods. We spent on both mornings 20,00 euro for our breakfasts, including hot beverages and juice.

Will recommend the hotel and if ever to return to Hamburg would like to stay here again.

Extremely stilish hotel, with a definitely original decoration and nice common parts.
But.... In my opinion on the top of everything an Hotel has to offer confort to its guests, while this hotel is definitely sacrificing the confort privileging the design and the decoration.
I spent a night a quite small and very very dark room with absolutely insufficient lighting, with a very small small wardrobe without doors nor drawers and an extremely basic bathroom.
Again: the design is original and nice, but you can eventually enjoy it just popping in and eventually have an aperitif or a dinner avoiding the unpleasant complication of sleeping in an hyper-designed room sacrificing your confort.

Hello FabioDaGenova

Thank you very much for your feedback.

Every comment we receive will help us to improve our service and tell us what our guests need. In terms of design and room interior we receive mostly positive feedback.

Maybe this time the design and decor does not meet your expectations but maybe one of our other hotels in Frankfurt, Vienna, Zurich or Berlin does.

Kind regards
