I stayed there for a business trip to the university. I arrived early in the morning and although the room was not available, I was offered to use their shower in the basement, which worked out perfect after a transatlantic flight. The rooms are small, but clean, the breakfast is OK, nothing special. The location is very convenient to Dammtor Bahnhof and Aussenalster. The service was above what you normally expect in Germany.

Stayed three nights at this hotel. The room was in a good standard and clean. Even though the room was located with a window towards a side streat it was noisy. Breakfast is ok, you will find something that suits you. But it is nothing spectacular. The location of the hotel is good. A good surprise was the free ticket to the public transports which was valid during our stay. But I don't know if it was a special offer.

Room Tip: Many of the rooms are located towards noisy strees. Ask specifically for a quiet room if you are sen...

We were attracted by the hotel's advertisement of their great breakfast quality in addition to its prime location.

Unfortunately our real-life experience was actually almost opposite from this. The food was scarce and the presonell was very reluctant to resupply. The choice of bread was very limited, the offered bread was hardly fresh.

The coffee was below average.

In short - the food offering doesn't match hotel's 4 stars claimed status and needs urgent improvments.

The hotel is located on a busy street and our room was on the street. The room was very nice and large. It was warm when we were there and had the window open and the traffic was loud. But when the windows were closed it wasn't so bad. However...there is no air conditioning so if you are here in the summer you either sleep with the windows open and traffic sounds or windows closed and be too warm.

The hotel is located by a large shopping area with great restaurants. It's also close to a lake. If you are American, walk along the lakeside and look for the American Consulate. It looks like a mini White House! The Hamburg Rathaus (city hall) is also close, go see it it's beautiful! The car park is a 10-minute walk away and is very nice but if you have a large car it can be difficult maneuvering in the garage but we managed.

The breakfast was awesome -- hot foods, breads with cheeses and meats, croissants with wonderful jams, yogurts, cereal, and a you own pot of coffee at your table.

We would stay here again but not in the summer.

Room Tip: When we checked out we asked about airco. There isn't any but he said the rooms on the street s...

I was a little scared when I saw the hotel 60/70s look but it was a pleasant surprise. First the staff was very good and very helpful. The room are spacious and the internet works quite ok. Do not expect too much from the choice of the TV channels, the only other draw back was the fact that the curtains are not fully blackout. Otherwise the room is large , the location is very good, and the breakfast is very good, and the people are really friendly and helpful. After a little apprehension when I came in everyone make me forget about the look of the hotel. I would stay there for sure during my next stay.

Pros:
Room - Large, great view, modern, clean, big bathroom, loved this hotel
Breakfast - one of the best I've had in Europe
Location - Fantastic, close to subway and in the middle of town
Other - they hooked us up with free use of mass transit card when we arrived

Negatives:
No parking - there was nearby public parking.

Highly recommended.
