Description: The "Jellyfish" is Hamburg's new top restaurant for fresh fish & seafood, serving you for lunch and dinner. The dinner menu changes every 10 to 14 days (see also web site). Focussing on delicious fish and seafood the menu also provides for the vegetarian or meat lover. The food is complemented by an excellent selection of wines and great service people. Monday is a special night - the communion night (refer to web page for more details)

Well prepared food, however fish in a city that is near the sea in this kind of restaurant is clearly overpriced. Restaurant is small, charges as if if were at a perfect location, with tremendous decoration and real waiters attending your needs. Putting some candles to generate some atmosphere but using simple seating and tables does not justify prices.

Went and tried the 6-course menu. All of it was very tasty - and all the fish was cooked to perfection. It is a small, nice and very dedicated fish restaurant which "does what is says on the tin". In other words: Don't go here for discount or steaks - but if you are looking for good seafood this should be on your short list.

Our experience (2*6-course menu, bottle of wine, water, coffee and spirits to the coffee) came to 251€ - not cheap - but for the quality certainly a good price.

We went to Jellyfish one beautiful Sunday evening in October 2012. The place was not very full, which contributed to creating a welcoming and cosy atmosphere. One could write a book on this restaurant, not just a review. But let me say that the service was outstanding and attentive, the atmosphere, as mentioned, just wonderful (beautiful design, we love the wooden tables), and the food... the food is perhaps impossible to describe. We chose the 4-course menu, which really became 5 thanks to an extraordinary "Gruß aus der Küche": Nordseekrabben in an orange and carrot soup. The first starter was joyous, again Krabben with cod and chorizo; the second starter the best octopus we've ever eaten in a delicious tomato and squid ink sauce; the main course a splendid Rotbarsch with parmesan foam; and the dessert an incredible mango sorbet in a white chocolate sauce.
All in all, we had a wonderful evening. This is one of the very best fish restaurants we've been at, and definitely the best for inventiveness, creativity and sustainability (no fish is caught using nets). For this last point the restaurant needs to be specially commended.

I went there for dinner Sunday night, Sept. 30th. Since I was staying in the St. Pauli district, it was somewhat out of the way in Sternschanze (at least a half hour fast walk from my hotel). The atmosphere was very nice, and the food both carefully prepared and very good. My octopus appetizer was particularly excellent. It should be noted, however, that it is expensive: dinner for one with a beer and two glasses of wine (no dessert or coffee) came to $90.44. By comparison, a similar dinner -- and at least as good - - in Fischereihafen (perhaps the best known Hamburg fish restaurant, on the Elbe River waterfront) cost $77.45

One of the best meals we've had in a while. Michelin-star worthy. Excellent service, fresh seafood, loved the flavours, and the costs doesn't burn a hole in your pocket. The location was probably the only thing we didn't fancy as it wasn't as central as we'd have liked it to be but it was worth the cab fare to and fro. Highly recommended!
