“Must see when in Hamburg”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

It is a beautiful church! The inside is even more prettier. And if you buy a ticket then you can go up to the tower which has amazing view over Hamburg.

“Beautiful views of the harbor at dusk!”
Reviewed December 26, 2012

For a few Euros, you can take the tower elevator to the top of the bell tower. This gives you a 360 degree view of the city and the harbor. It is a beautiful view of the copper roofs that Hamburg is famous for. The water is especially beautiful right before sunset, and you can get some great photographs of the container ships, wind turbines, and docks.

The interior of the church is beautiful, but not as impressive as the Rococo or Baroque cathedrals further south. I attended a musical service for Christmas, and it was well worth sitting through a sermon in a foreign language!

“Top view”
Reviewed November 28, 2012

Well worth the trip to the top, but you must be brave to walk it! The elevator is a better bet, especially if you go at an off-time. The view gives you a 360 of the city and really helps you get your bearings. Do it at the beginning of your trip.

“Great views”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

On a sunny day or of an evening (yes, go twice - it's pretty cheap) this has some of the best views over Hamburg.
