We knew that the reeperbahn had its own reputation and were not disappointed as it did live up to its reputation and then some...

with a rebel attitude that suits it skull and cross bones (FC St Pauli)symbol to a tee.

it looks like a small version of the Las Vegas strip and the streets are a bit dirty.

“Not worth the time of your trip”
Reviewed July 17, 2013 via mobile

May sound like a contradiction but wanted to see what it was all about. Main Reeperbahn wasnt exciting. Strip clubs, sex shops and peep shows were about all I noticed. Some bars but nothing exciting. We crossed the road where there is the polics station and walked towards the Empire Hotel. On the right of the road is Herbert Strauss with the girls in the windows. Good laugh walking down there but once out the other side you get hassled from working girls. Never got to see the road where Dollhouse was but heard from a local it is much better than the Reeperbahn.

“Disappointing "attraction". Read and watch here.”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

I visited this place since it was listed among the top attractions of Hamburg. However, I must say it was a bit of a disappointment since there was nothing worth seeing, except for the strip-clubs and erotic stores. So, no, don't waste your time here if you have limited time in the city and wish to visit other attractions.
The Reeperbahn is presented in one of my travel videos around the world. This specific video also features other must-sees and do's in Hamburg. You can watch this video on YouTube by following the link:

When the Beatles visited it must have been amazing but now this area is mainly strip joints and bars. The old haunts that the fab 4 played in are now all venues for adult entertainment. There is one memorial to the lads at the bottom of the street where they played most of their gigs.
If you are a Beatles fan then you should go. Walk back down the street opposite the large Casino towards the docks for a good view of the Elbe and visit the Alter Elbe tunnel.

“Awful place”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

My husband and I were on a weekend trip without any children (first time for 10 years). Of course we planned a trip to the Reeperbahn. We arrived round about 14.00, so could see how dingy, miserable and down right sordid it was. There were drunks asleep on the pavement, horrible seedy looking men standing outside the clubs trying to lure us in etc. etc.. Not quite sure what we had expected, but certainly not such sordidness. Maybe, at night, with tingle tangle lights it would have looked more appetising.
After one quick walk up and down, we jumped on the underground back to the safety of Alster.
