Description: Welcome to ‚Das Dorf’: Our restaurant has a decades-long tradition since it has been established in 1848. It has always been the meeting point for friends of enjoyment and entertainment. Quite a few call it to the secret canteen of crew members of Deutsches Schauspielhaus theatre. We love regional dishes and think that German kitchen has been completely unjustified disdained for long. Our Motto: The most delicious dishes from Germany and Austria. Here they do exist, the classics and the forgotten: Mummy’s Roulades, Shnitzel of Veal, homemade swabian noodles and so on...We hope you enjoy your time with us.

“Slow Service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2013

This was my second visit to this restaurant. The first time the hotel in which I was staying at called to make a reservation. The girl at the restaurant forgot about the hotel which was on hold. We did get a free drink. The waitress did not bring us bread then we got a free schnapps. The schnitzel had a lot of meat. The rouladen were good with rich gravy.

The next evening I returned again. Dessert took almost 1 hour. The waitress did not tell us that the chocolate cake had to be baked. The pineapple soup was good but the description on the menu did not say that the coconut ice cream was on the side.

Service was very slow on both nights. 1 1/2 hours for dinner that is to long

“Great restaurant while in Hamburg”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013

Here is a small restaurant in the center of the great city of Hamburg with an excellent kitchen, great atmosphere and friendly staff. If you are looking for a typical German restaurant, you have to try Das Dorf. Best quality and price relation.

“Friendly service and ok food.”

While the service was excellent the food was a bit disappointing. My cod looked like it had come from a packet and was a bit tastless and my partner's snitzchel was watery and bland.

“have their schnitzel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2012

These guys run a nice house. Really nice updated versions of German classics. Good and friendly service, and a cool location. Give this place a try. I enjoyed every bite of a perfect veal schnitzel, cucumber salad and pan fried potatoes. Not greasy, just all tasty.

“Cant believe this isnt further up in the ratings...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2011

Came across this after looking for dinner on this busy street.

Was sat down by a rather awkward young waiter who was luckily replaced by a very helpful and friendy girl as our waitress.

Ordered the starter beetroot & apple soup which was as incredible as it was unique. The mains were equally satisfying and yummy- good portions with well thought out side dishes. That was the best thing- every part of the meal was considered with real attention to detail.

The dessert was chocolate cake with ice cream & home made sour berry sauce- perfect to share after a filling meal.

Overall, incredibly satisfied with the food, service, price & atmosphere.

Definitely recommend it for anyone looking for authentic food at a good price with lack of pretention.
