For a great maritime city to have a museum dedicated to the sea is expected but this one exceeds anything I've visited before. There are 9 floors in one of the old port warehouses (the district itself is worth a visit for the wonderful buildings both old and brand new)
The model boats are fascinating but there are excellent seascapes from many European countries, a floor dedicated to great liners, some very interesting physical world research information and lots more.
We took the lift to the top floor and worked our way down. Interesting the way the exhibits were laid out too: inviting you to just go round the next corner. This is one museum that I'll go back to on every visit. AND there is a fantastic model railway exhibition very nearby!
