Description: The BULLEREI in Hamburg's Schanzenviertel was once a cattle market and is visibly stunning. with stylish but comfortable grey couches, 200 year old oak tables and a blue tiled bar. The restaurant is popular with gourmets, the in-crowd and beer drinkers who wax-lyrical about it. The food tastes amazing and prices are reasonable. The meat is cooked to perfection and the side dishes are delicious. The lunch menu offers wonderful meals for vegetarians. The staff are stylish and fashionable. They are cool, friendly and stand out from the crowd in their grey aprons.

A very cool and robust place at the end of the railway tracks in Schanzenviertel. An old slaughterhouse turned in to a hipster reastaurant/club. Nice interriors and some gems on the menu. You gotta have burrata to share with friends! Don't forget the reservation.

“Nice place but food is not quite living up to the hype”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

Attracted by the very good tripadvisor ratings and the general hype surrounding the restaurant and its TV Chef, we visited during our short city break this August. We got a very good table in the main dining room, one of the best that there was. Service but friendly and efficient enough. My wife had fillet steak which was fine but nothing out of the ordinary. It was reasonably well prepared, perhaps lacking a bit of salt, but the meat itself was not very flavorsome. We have certainly had much better quality meat. I ordered ribs and while the portion was very large again the quality was average. The meat was tender but the sauce completely drowned the ribs. The accompanying beans were disappointing while the fries were absolutely superb.

“Hamburg Steakhouse Extraordinaire!”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

This is one of those places that will stay on the list of "must" places to come back to! In an old brick warehouse, in an "urban pioneering" part of the city, this restaurant (of a German TV chef!), is the place for lovers ... of steaks! We tried their "Tomahawk Steak" which was truly one of the best cuts of beef I have ever had! "Like buttah", tasty and melting in your mouth! Of course, this "bone on" cut was too big, even for two, and served with great sides and an assortment of "sauces on the side"! The "green curry" cream soup with a large grilled scampi as an appetizer was also delicious! Despite the large size of the space, and a full room, the noise level was OK! Definitely a place to see and be seen in the local Hamburg scene!

“Good - but not as good as the guide books suggest”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

A wide range of choices of different steaks dominates the menu. And the one we chose was good; certainly an ample portion. But not particularly German (Nebraska cut!) and nothing special compared with steakhouses around the world. Ambience is also good but the seating is a little close together and a little noisy.

“Run of the mill”
Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

There was quite simply, nothing unique about the place. You can find a restaurant like this serving U S. steak (& who knows if it was grass or grain fed cattle as the menu did not state this) in just about any Western city with a population of 1M or more. Mediocre wine list, snoozer cocktails & pleasant enough service. Would not go back.
