Only really went her as the weather was cold. I am not into modelling but this place was great even the wife enjoyed it. When they finish the new exhibits it will be a must see.

How many times we see miniature airplanes flying..I suppose never. It is really wonderful to see how big things like train stations, airports, airplanes, Alps mountains etc. can be represented in miniature form. Tour starts showcasing some cities of Germany after world war...
Then to Switzerland showing Alps Mountains, Rope way trolleys, trains etc, It is amazing to watch how they have designed stations, and how rails are running in coordination probably centrally controlled. It is so tightly controlled that even railways stop for railway crossing and they coordinate and switch tracks accordingly. They have taken even smallest things into consideration while designing it.
Next comes Switzerland chocolate factories and surrounding areas. They have managed to recreate day and night times. In night all street and house lights are turned ON which in turn makes it breathtaking. Next best area is the Airport. This is one piece where I think they deserve hats off. Planes land and take off just how we see in reality off course it is not possible to fly planes so they have attached a metal rod which gives flying experience. All plans and road transport is coordinated perfectly, none car/ambulance. fire extinguisher, bus collides each other. Off course we saw few mechanical issues with the plane and boat but it is ok. Maintenance person quickly tracks it via circuit and fixes it.
Moving on there are some American places like LA but they are not as excellent as previous models. There are Scandinavian models as well. There is model for Hamburg port as well where they have kept real water and boat models. Boats do float and navigate around the port.
I would strongly recommend you to visit it esp. for Switzerland and airport models. I still think they should add more countries. I see too much repetition in the models like trains etc. They should concentrate on different countries and cultures so that people stay entertained and see something new.

Hope review helps.

Was in Hamburg last week for a few days for a football game.So went to Miniature World model train exibition on the saturday. As I had heard good reports about it.Boy was I delighted I went. This has to be one of the best exibitions in the world.I spent about five hours going around it.They had one section on the the Swiss Alps, another section on America which encluded the Grand Canyon,Las Vagas and the Rockies, another section on Hamburg Port and Hamburg airport.
The sheer size of the layout and the detail in the scenery has to be seen to be believed.
Really a must if you are visiting Hamburg.Enterance fee is only 12€.Will definitively be returning to it.

Even adults turn to children once they enter here.
The day-night transition is very good and the special effects of snowfall was really great!
It is amazing to look at the numbers explaining how much of effort has gone into building this.
Overall we enjoyed a lot- especially my son- although he was little bit sad since the 'Italy' section was not yet ready.

This was my fourth visit to Miniatur Wunderland and I still find it one of the best attractions when visiting Hamburg. Almost every year a new section to discover. Or discover new details in old sections that you missed. Because it's just so much attention to detail everywere on this giant model railway there is always something to see even if most popular viewing places are too crowded.

I been visiting when there hasn't been long lines to enter but their web page has a prediction page of how long lines of visitors they are expecting down to the hour of a certain day.

I have hard to imagine anyone who wouldn't find enjoyment to enter this land of wonder for a couple of hours.
