There is a lot to see in the park and it's really beautiful. First of course, we went to Sans Souci. Afterwords it was great just walking through the park and see what appears behind the trees and bushes.

Castles have the original furnishings here. The gardens are spectacular. The park is close to downtown Potsdam and the bus system can get you anywhere.

We traveled to Potsdam from Berlin with the intention of visiting Schloss Sanssouci. We took one of the RE trains from the Berlin Zoo station, planning to get off at Potsdam HBF but were happily surprised to see that the train we were on went all the way to Park Sanssouci station itself. When we got off the train it was just a short walk to the park entrance near the New Palace. Slightly confused as we hadn't realised there was another palace in the park, we admired the building before checking a map of the park, only to find out that there were more palaces!

I've no idea how many palaces we actually saw; some were palaces, some were summer houses, one was a tea house and another was a church... the only thing they had in common was that they were all stunningly beautiful. When we left the park we did so near to the church/mauseleum and walked down from there towards the town and Potsdam HBF. There were plenty of cafes along the way and a tourist information centre.

We only spent around two hours here but I could happily have spent more. We were lucky to visit on a sunny day in March when it was quite quiet despite the glorious weather. Because it was out of season, many of the statues were covered up and the flowers were not in bloom. This didn't detract from the beauty of the park however and I imagine in the summer it would be a lot more crowded.

The highlight of the visit was definitely Schloss Sanssouci. We came at the palace from the top of the garden and were amazed by how beautiful it was. It was only after we walked down some steps and looked at it from the fountain area that we noticed the stepped walkway leading up to the palace was decorated and covered in branches (which are in leaf during the summer).

Spent few hours in there an it was not enough. Great gardens, my kids love it. Definitely will come back on next visit to Berlin.

We were lucky to have a beautiful day to explore this park. The grounds are pristine and there are so many areas to see. I would say you need at least two hours to see the main areas but could easily spend the day. Highly recommend as a day trip while in Berlin!
