A load of hype surrounds this place. There were only a few wooden houses (one a touristy tea room) and virtually nothing to see. The museum tells the story of this settlement and there is a russian church nearby too, but certainly not worth the visit unless this type of thing floats your boat.

If you have the time, take the tram from the city center to this "colony" and admire traditional Russian houses. It will not take you more than one hour to visit.
Moreover, if you are hungry, there is a restaurant serving traditional dishes.

On our tour we stopped here at the Russian houses which were built for the Russians who came to Potsdam. It looked a really interesting area but we di d not have enough time to explore the area completely. The houses were wooden and quaint.

Charming group of Russian style Dachas built for visiting Russians....Very sweet. We didn't go inside...not sure if you can...they are still residences.

The Russian Colony in Potsdam is worth a visit. 12 wooden houses with huge gardens built for the Russian choir of Friedrich Wilhelm III after the defeat of Napoleon. The house in the middle is now a Russian restaurant, which serves really delicious food and some of the house owners sometimes sell their vegetables (one family is still the original "singer family"!). It's located inbetween the New Garden (where Cecilienhof is) and the city center, dutch quarter, etc, so it's easy to find. There's a tram going right past the Russian colony, too. If you have the time, also visit the little orthodox Russian church which is nearby - stunning!
