We had 2 very nice meals here. Borscht and goulash soups are both delicious. The Mains also. The decor is the Quirky part. It is cute as can be inside. If it was warmer, the outside would be great too. The server was very helpful with the meun which was also in English. We would definately return.

The Alexandrowka 1 was our choice for a business dinner for a larger group.

Beeing located in the russian community in the Potsdam town center, it requires a short (and partially scenic) walk through a park-sort-of-thing. I did not see any parking spaces nearby. The exterior is quite charming - although I have no clue wether this is actual russian architecture, I found it to look pretty special.

Despite beeing a larger group, we found seating right away in the relatively empty and small restaurant.

The interior design is.. special: Attention to detail is paired with weird applikations like a plastic wall cover and double layer carpets. I found it to be a little overcrowded with "stuff" - but maybe thats the russian way to do things?

The menu offers a wide choice of russian cuisine, there should be something there for everybody. All main courses were very good in taste, but all were also tiny in size.
An interesting choice of russian beers (with numbers as names) is available - to our dismay, some of them were brewed in germany.

We would have liked to try out the desserts (for repletion AND experimentation) but we were told that the kitchen had already closed (at around 9.45pm).

The service was very.. restrained and quiet, but flawless in total.

All-in-all, the Alexandrowka 1 provides an interesting dining experience, and may be the right choice if you're in for trying out something new. Given the special choice and quality of the food, the pricing is just about okay.

The atmosphere and the food is worth going there. The dishes are not fancy, but down to earth. We enjoyed a nice afternoon in the garden and liked the Russian specialities. I also checked out the interior and thought I am in Russia - very cosy and for sure a nice experience during long winter days. If you are looking for something special away from all the tourist stuff, that's the place to go.
