We were staying in the neighbourhood and needed somewhere to eat. A wander through the streets led us to Joe Penas. We were hungry and ordered the fmixed ajitas for two at 24 euros which was a good choice. Ther serving was enormous with lamb, chicken, beef and prawns. My only complaint would be that the prawns had been cooked from frozen and some were squishy, the flavour was lacking a little too but it all went down very well indeed.
Staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was reasonably busy for a weeknight. The menu was extensive and the food I saw going to other tables looked good. Generous portions as you'd expect in Germany.
I probably wouldn't go back to Joe Penas for the simple reason that I'd want to try somewhere else. But if you're in a similar situation where you need a meal and everywhere else is closed, give it a try and I'm sure you'll be as pleasantly surprised as we were.
