“what a nice surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2013

The area around Oranienplatz is ful of restaurants....we picked the one the was closest to the parking lot! Nice interior and very friendly staff where the first impressions. They have a large menu and the food was very good. Service was friendly an efficient! Unfortunately we ate too much to try the cake: we will come back!

“Friendly service and good food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2013

A busy Saturday and Kuchen Kaiser was packed full of a mixed local/tourist crowd - we were lucky to find a table for two with others being turned away after we had been seated. The menu had lots of choices, although some of the sections (the starters for example) veered towards the non-descript international fare that, in choosing a German restaurant, we were seeking to avoid. Nonetheless, we ordered the in-season Asparagus Soup and the Sauerbraten washed down with large glasses of Berliner Pilsener. The soup was, if truth be told, a little bland and unexciting, but the sauerbraten was good - nicely seasoned and served with braised red cabbage; I personally would have prefered dumplings or boiled potatoes (rather than the mash that was provided), but this is a relatively minor quibble. The service was attentive and friendly at all times and the price for two dining with drinks was reasonable.

“Avoid”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013 via mobile

Ordered the traditional burger here, was frozen and also freezing when thrown at me by the very unhappy waitress that was serving the food.

Was only 10 euro but you can get so much better in Berlin for that price.

“Long waiting times, mediocre food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

I was with only two other people (only my mother, my sister and I) and it wasn't overwhelmingly busy. Still, we had to wait for our drinks for 10 minutes, and our food took nearly an hour. Even then, it wasn't that good and very salty. No veggies. The waitress acknowledged without us asking that it took a long time. She was friendly, but not very helpful. Atmosphere is good, but not great - kind of sloppy. I would recommend going to Kleiner Markthalle around the corner for great German food.

“Relaxing and meet locals”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2013

After arriving from Copenhagen we wanted to try an authentic German place and our hostess recommended this place. Lots of locals come here. Great food and atmosphere.
