Description: Maximilians is cosiness personified! The restaurant has impressive copper and brass pumps and rustic-style furniture. It specialises in Bavarian cuisine, offering a large selection of good hearty food such as carpaccio dumplings and meat loaf, roast potatoes, fried eggs and Reiberdatschi (potato pancakes) served with apple compote. The waiting staff who are garbed in traditional Bavarian dress are constantly on the go, looking after the clientele of tourists, locals and Bavarian émigrés. This restaurant which is situated on the river Spree celebrates the Oktoberfest in September. The restaurant offers a selection of beer and wine.

Visited this restaurant on a Sunday when it’s more of a challenge to find eating places as many are closed.

All the meals we ordered were excellent and with the restaurant half empty service was good.

Wine and beer were good and the overall price for a meal for four was not expensive.
Well worth trying a meal here.

Visited here with a group of about 40 on a cruise ship excursion. Had the pork knuckle which was enormous and very tasty with sauerkraut which was also delicious and mash. For dessert again a good sized portion of Apple Strudel. Bavarian restaurant which I thought unusual in the centre of Berlin - but very nice with excellent service and good beer. Couldn't fault!

We went to this restaurant without a reservation on a Sunday night and even though it was busy we got a table. The staff are dressed in typical German clothes. We both opted for the 1/2 duck with red cabbage and potato dumplings. The portions were very big and we struggled to finish it. The duck was good, although we found the potato dumplings a bit like glue. On the menu were other typical German dishes such as sausages, pork knuckle etc. Unfortunately we were too full for desert as the apple strudel looked really good.
The service was good and meal also good value too.

Great Bavarian Restaurant in Berlin, his off Frederichstrasse and 3 or 4 mins from Checkpoint Charlie. The staff, food and beer were very good in quality and portion size and very reasonable in price. Nice ambiance and attentive staff. Used the Facebook app to book and had a quick response.

Visited there with 3 others on May 21. I had the goulash which was great and my wife had the white asparagus with hollandaise sauce which was a real delicacy. Washed everything down with good German beer. My only complaints would be the service was very slow and one of our party did not get her pretzel she had ordered. The drinks did not come until after we got our meal. In their defense they were very busy. The room was also very hot. Except for these complaints I would have given them a five.
