Description: Maximilians is cosiness personified! The restaurant has impressive copper and brass pumps and rustic-style furniture. It specialises in Bavarian cuisine, offering a large selection of good hearty food such as carpaccio dumplings and meat loaf, roast potatoes, fried eggs and Reiberdatschi (potato pancakes) served with apple compote. The waiting staff who are garbed in traditional Bavarian dress are constantly on the go, looking after the clientele of tourists, locals and Bavarian émigrés. This restaurant which is situated on the river Spree celebrates the Oktoberfest in September. The restaurant offers a selection of beer and wine.

The food was average. The service was average. The prices are cheap - but you get what you pay for. We ended up leaving and went to Lowenbrau for dessert and wished we went there for dinner as well.

Terrific Bavarian restaurant and bar. Wide range of choice for lunch and dinner and exceptional value 2-course lunch for less than 7 euros. Struggled to find a good German restaurant at a sensible price in this part of Berlin - so went back more than once! By the way, proper Bavarian beer - try the weissbier or traditional Bavarian dark beer.

Nice Bavarian style restaurant / bar. Ate here twice for a quick pre- opera meal. Efficient service, good prices. Has an area in a covered courtyard at the back so you can sit outside even in the rain!

The first night we arrived in Berlin quite late into the evening. This restaurant was suggested to us by the receptionist at our hotel. What an amazingly fun night we enjoyed in here. The place was absolutely buzzing, every table, and there was a lot of tables, was full with Germans laughing and joking; enjoying the traditional Bavarian entertainment of a man playing a music box and woman dancing/singing. I had never been to Germany before, so only ever tried the occasional food at the German markets in the UK! I decided to go for a pork steak with ham and cheese then potatoes on the side. The dish was humongous and I made sure to eat every last bit of it as the flavours were amazing. From this point on, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed by any German food I ordered the rest of the holiday; cheese meet and carbs, what is better!?!

The food was excellent. We wanted to know some food on the menu and I had asked a waiter a question even in German language he wanted to just take order and completely ignore the question. I saw other waiters and waitresses serving other tables but they were doing fine, except for this rather senior waiter. It took a long time to serve food even though other guests who came in later than us got served much earlier than us. We stayed in Mandala Suites and asked for a good German Restaurant for a recommendation, no wonder they did not recommend us to go to this restaurant which is right in front of their hotel. Overall food was great and the cost wise it's was good. However because of this waiter who treated us badly we never went back during our stay in Berlin.
