Description: For years, this place has been a must for fiends of traditional Austrian cooking, without chichi and flourishes. Here, everything is cooked by hand. The Wiener Schnitzel looms, just like before, beyond the plate. The frest country beer bubbles out of the basement. Those who can should not do wothout a sugared, cut-up pancake, the Kaiserschmarrn, with raisins.

Incredibly friendly service. Staying locally so no need to travel for excellent food :-)... I have to have schnitzel when in Berlin and this certainly didn't disappoint. I'm not a 'pudding' lover but was tempted by the rice pudding until I realised it was cold. We went for it but to share with 3 spoons. Big mistake!!!! A) they'd heated it up for me and B) it was absolutely delicious. Looking forward to my next trip to Berlin just to go to Austria again.

Really love this Austrian restaurant in a lovely part of Kreuzberg. Friendly atmosphere and great food. The schnitzel is amazing! It's not the cheapest place but the large portions make up for it...make sure you have a large appetite! Can thoroughly recommend the zweigelt and the obstler!

I was with a large group of friends and we went to Austria on a Saturday night, booking earlier that day. We had a brilliant time. The staff really embraced us and were very welcoming, explaining the menu to us (our GCSE German letting us down) and making lots of jokes with us as the evening went on.

We were sat at a round table which helped conversation and the decor was very apt with antlers of various sizes all over the walls.

The food is very simple German traditional fare such as schnitzel, tafelspitz, goulash etc and it was delicious. The big surprise was the salads that we had for starters. I had the one with corn and bacon and it was blooming lovely. Some friends who had the one with chicory and soft cheese said the same about theirs.

The portions are enormous (and that isn't an exaggeration) and only one out of the eight of us managed to clear their plate. I'd really suggest sharing a starter between at least three. I wouldn't recommend it for vegetarians though.

After the disasterous time we had the previous evening at the White Trash Cafe, Austria was a real treat.

Loved loved loved this place. The staff were so friendly despite our party of nine being both a bit loud as we were celebrating, and a bit merry as we were celebrating. We're like that. Totally patient explaining the menu (its in German), great value for money and a top night out. Go there, have fun, eat some Schnitzel the size of your head and have fun. Highly recommended

We had a table without reservation with no problems. The only reason to visit this place is the enormous schitzel, which tasted quite well. After som time we ordered for one portion Kaischersschmarre. Little bit dry but OK.
