I was with a large group of friends and we went to Austria on a Saturday night, booking earlier that day. We had a brilliant time. The staff really embraced us and were very welcoming, explaining the menu to us (our GCSE German letting us down) and making lots of jokes with us as the evening went on.
We were sat at a round table which helped conversation and the decor was very apt with antlers of various sizes all over the walls.
The food is very simple German traditional fare such as schnitzel, tafelspitz, goulash etc and it was delicious. The big surprise was the salads that we had for starters. I had the one with corn and bacon and it was blooming lovely. Some friends who had the one with chicory and soft cheese said the same about theirs.
The portions are enormous (and that isn't an exaggeration) and only one out of the eight of us managed to clear their plate. I'd really suggest sharing a starter between at least three. I wouldn't recommend it for vegetarians though.
After the disasterous time we had the previous evening at the White Trash Cafe, Austria was a real treat.
