The restaurant is nice, small but not overcrowded. Centrally located is not far from many other ethnic restaurants and fast foods. Food was very good and the price reasonable. Recommended a visit

restaurant is small and simple, but nice.
service was excellent.
as for the food, it could be that it is not for me. i tried the japanese noodles for the first time and i both like them and not. it surprised me how heavy they taste (very intensive pork taste)

probably i will give it another try, to give the final judgement on ramen :)

I have enjoyed a selection of Japanese cuisine in my time and I have to say this was the best technically, so far. The Restaurant is well decorated bringing an atmosphere of calm that didn't interfere with digestion. The waiter was attentive and helpful, suggesting choices that would work well together, also making sure we didn't order too much. Service was quick, but not too quick to know that the food had been cooked fresh!

The Age-Gyoza were crisp and well seasoned, and the flavour of the pork balanced well with the choice of vinegared-soy. Presented on a decorative plate was also a nice touch.

The Ramen was of Toku Shoyu; fried pork, vegetables, egg and soy flavouring. A decent sized bowl with such a deep flavoured broth, warming and filling with the soy flavour not destoying the subtle flavours of the stock. The noodles had a good bite to them, giving a good textural contrast to the whole dish. The meat was, well meat, unfortunately nothing special, but still worked overall with the whole dish, and actually quite well with the ribboned egg. The vegatables were well cooked, retained flavour and added a nice colour to the overall appearance, but really needed to be more of a presence in the dish. Barely a handful, it wasn't enough to get away from the 'heavyer' elements.

Traditional crockery and cutlery added a nice touch, and I can definitely recommend the roasted rice tea (Genmai-cha) to chase away the winter chills. A good experience, and I will definitely be returning to get another taste, and a more balanced view of what they offer.

Good big noddle, good service, not exactly the ramen ( that type of noddle) i was hoping for, but very tasty, i had a pan-fry pork with loads of veggies ramen.

We came to Makoto, in Mitte, after living 3 months in Dresden...without much Asian food. Including a Japanese-American friend who was really missing it. The ramen was really tasty as were the gyoza and fried chicken appetizer.

The restaurant was also cozy and bright, with long communal tables in the rice-paper shaded back room.

Makoto is closed on Sundays. It is open at lunch, unlike Cocolo, which is the other highly recommended ramen place in Berlin. (we had dinner plans all the nights we were there so we couldn't hit it up.)
