Description: "If Berlin is the door between the East and the West, then Paris-Moskau Restaurant is its welcoming reception room. Marrying the best of both sides of the former famous wall, Paris-Moskau’s cosy feel and seasonal menus have been winning fans since 1987. Though tucked into a charming period house built in 1898, inside gives way to crisp, modern cream walls accented with bold wooden furniture. The menu’s also thoroughly modern with an emphasis on seafood, tempting diners with favourites like tranche of char with caviar and tarragon cream, or a stew of Canadian lobster with Baumpilz. Don’t miss the garden in the summer, with fantastic view of the government quarter, Chancellor’s garden and Berlin skyline. "

“Good service, lovely main dish but dessert could be better.”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

This restaurant certainty gave us a perfect end to our Berlin trip. Service was superb and the menu was interesting albeit rather limited. The kitchen also surprised us with two dishes (one appetiser and dessert) which was really lovely.

I really enjoyed my main dish (a beef dish) and it was cooked to perfection. The wine suggested to me was also divine. However the dessert was a bit disappointing. I had expected more than vanilla ice cream flanked with wafers and cheery sauce. The ambiance of the restaurant was great too so all in all it was a great nite with good food, wine and company.

“warm service and delicious food in central berlin”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

My Chinese friend and I had a wonderful dinner and the food was delicious. Equally nice was the warm service by Mr Christian Thomasow and his colleagues. It felt very homely in this pulsating city Berlin, near the Hauptbahnhof and the government institutions.

“Huge dissapointment”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

First of all - the waiter was very friendly and explained all the courses very well. Unfortunately out of the 6 course menu only 2 of the dishes were on an excellent level. The lesser four were either just pretentious for the sake of being pretentious or were matched with the wrong type of wine. The biggest problem was the serving time. 45 minutes to first disha, and then 30 min between each dish.
Let's break down the menu:
- Amouse bouche: The AB should be an easy to eat mouthful - instead we get a "deconstructed" gazpacho in four parts. Setting aside the breaking of the AB format, the tastes were really bland. The tomato water did nothing and the hacked tomatos and onions tasted like out of a can.
- 1st course: Herring - overwhelmingly strong in taste, but still not that different from what you get from a can. Killes the palate and totally overruns the other things on the plate. Coupled with a really aged riesling that almost tastes like a chardonnay.
- 2nd course: Foie gras with lavender sorbet - Great idea to pair lavender sorbet with foie gras - the combination works. Unfortunately I have seldom tasted a foie gras with such a lack of taste. It lacked all of the mustiness a foie gras typically enbodies. Coupled with a really sweet wine, which in my opion is a mistake since the Lavender sorbet is already quite sweet and makes the whole experience with the wine a somewhat overly-sweet one.
- 3rd course: Sardine - much the same as the herring. overpowering everything else on the plate.
- 4th course: The Pelmeni with smetana - very good dish. Musty, clear tastes, great consistency. Coupled with a rosé wine which is unfortunately somewhat of a mistake. A red wine would absolutely have been the correct and obvious choice here. But again, this seems to be a matter of being pretentious just for the sake of it.
- 5th course: Veal with artichokes and capers - again a very good dish. Very thought out taste and combination.
- 6th course: Dessert - this was the absolute low of this place: The icecream that was served between dry store-shelf wafers was flaky-icy, gone bad in the freezer downright. We told this to the servant and no apology or other reaction was received. The smoked cherry was interesting but alone the only interesting thing on the plate. Paired with a very very sweet wine.

Overall - if the fish dishes were more balanced and the wines served were thought out more carefully, this menu could get a better score. As it is now, no go. And this small dishes must come at faster pace. 30 min. between small fine-dining dishes is faar too long.

“Really, really good”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

A short walk from the HaubtBahnHof this was certainly the best meal we had in Berlin much better than a michelin star restaurant that we also visited and at half the price. An original menu and fine wine pairing the service was also very good.

“Go there and enjoy - a unique place !”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

This is a unique place - don't miss it ! An unpretentious place, yet stylish and relaxed - the food is remarkable and the wine list offers a great variety to match the well presented dishes. We had the five course menu, which we enjoyed sitting outside in front of this unique building and location. The service is perfect - nothing leaves to be desired. Check out the photos provided elsewhere to see what it lookes like. Congratulations to the chef and owner. There are few places like Paris Moskau around !
