Had a chance to extend a business trip b y a day, so I stayed here. it is exactly what it should be - cheap, clean, and friendly. Also a lot smarter than you might expect!

Breakfast was not expensive, and was filling. Overall I have to recommend it. If you want somewhere practical to stay (not romantic!) then you could do a lot worse!

Reception staff are also their strongest point, very helpful, friendly, and brilliant language skills :-)

I stayed here for 3 nights on a uni trip with fellow classmates. We had a dorm for 4 with bunk beds. The room was very small, and nowhere for 4 suitcases which we kept tripping over! But for a short stay when you are out all day and only need a place to sleep and shower, it is great!
There is free wifi, a fabulous buffet breakfast, and the staff are nice and friendly and more than happy to provide helpful advice. The location is right next to the metro which makes it easy to get around. The rooms are clean and everything you would expect for a short stay on a budget. Recommended for students, backpackers, even families!

Stayed here for 3 nights. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Location is very good, right near a subway station and in the middle of a nice neighbourhood (lots of great restaurants and bars and a market on Saturdays).

The 3-4 people rooms of course don't look like the one advertised on the site (with a double bed + bunk bed) -- ours was a room with two bunk beds. For three people it was fine, but if we'd had a fourth it would've been squishy. There also isn't air conditioning and even in April our room got very warm at night, so it might be a bit unpleasant in summer. I also didn't really like that the pillow wasn't an actual pillow but a blanket wrapped around itself (?)

Aside from that, the room and the wider hotel were very clean and accommodating. I had the breakfast on the last day, and it was very good value for money, but I would recommend trying out some of the local cafes for breakfast (we went to Sowohl Als Auch and it was priced comparably and very good).

I'd consider staying again if I were travelling during cooler months, but would probably look elsewhere in the summer.

Room Tip: If you're after the 3-4 bed room pictured on the website (with the double bed + bunk bed) you mi...

The staff were always very friendly and helpful. The room although small was spotless as were the toilet facilities. A great spread of choices for a reasonably priced all-you-eat breakfast and it is open from 6:30 am. The location right outside an underground station is excellent, is near to the city centre, while many interesting restaurants are to be found in the neighbourhood. The free Wi-Fi made searching for usful information easy.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the street are quiet.

stayed for 5 nights as a group. great little city hotel with everything we needed. central zone A location, right next to Senefelder Platz station. quiet enough to sleep. accessible enough from airport and other parts of the city. the hotel offered a small bottle of red wine and bottle water in room on arrival; also free tea, coffee in bar, wire fii in room, and internet access on desktops in lobby during the entire stay. all the staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the location. the room was bright and bigger than expected. it was clean and well maintained. there was tv and basic toilettries in room, but no phone and no safe; hair dryer has to be borrowed from reception. not keen on the pillow, it was like a small blanket rolled up and stuffed in a big pillow case. mattress felt a bit like a cheap version of memory foam. door banging from the next room was very loud and shaked the walls. shower was good in single room (has two single beds), it was a normal shower, no need to push in constantly to keep water going like that in group rooms. there were two english channels - bbc news 24 and cnn. breakfast was basic but good enough, they even provided paper bags for people to pack their sandwich on the go. overall, it was an affordable good quality hotel, will stay there again next time in the city.

Have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Meininger. We were on a school trip and having led a number of such trips this is by far the best hotel we have stayed in in Berlin. The rooms are good and clean. The communal areas are good, having free Wifi pleased students and the dinning room area could be used in the evening as a place to relax. There was also a football table and pool table. Drinks and snacks could also be purchased.

Food was reasonable, buffet breakfast and a set meal in the evening.

The staff were increibly helpful both with hotel matters and tourist matters. Teachers were treated very well. A gold VIP wrist band meant free tea and coffee during the day.

To conclude a hotel that is clearly happy to cater for school groups.
