We really recommend this Restaurant. We spent a wonderful evening on the Terrace, were served wonderful dishes, very tasty. We also took a bottle of Wine "à la carte" and were advised for a German Spätburgunder from Hans Georg Rebholz. This was the culinary highlight of our Trip in Berlin. The restauran is quite expensive but the quality is impeccable and deserves this level.

When you spend this amount of money, you expect something special. Well, there are many better places to spend your money. The dishes were without any creativity, the admosphere strange - this is a restaurant where some people go to be seen - and the day I went several dishes of the tasting menue were served the same green - blended peas... - sauce; it all tasted very similar. Wine overpriced, waiter without any particular knowledge about wine (sommelier was nowhere to be found). All in all an unpleasant experience, would never return, the price/quality ratio got completely lost here.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Vau. We were told it would be one of the best meals in Berlin, and we were not disappointed. We did bring our two teenage children who also enjoyed the contemporary atmosphere, attentive and curious service, as well as the delicious food. The three hour meal was well worth the build up.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The formal service may be daunting at first, but the waiters will immediately put you at ease. Request to sit in the courtyard, and you will enjoy the architecture as well as the food

It was indeed a shock to be seated in an uncomfortable garden chair and served popcorn at a one star Michelin restaurant with two star prices. The waiter informed us that the barbecued popcorn (?) was home made. Would they really consider serving commercially packaged popcorn? Even cinemas do better. The "amuse bouches" were a bland gaspacho and slightly sweet, if "melt-in-your-mouth" pork dish. The latter was a good omen for one of the qualities of VAU: top quality meat. The first course married soft shell crabs (why call them pakoras when this is the most traditional Venetian preparation of "moeche"?) with candied water melon rind, water melon and crab meat. It was interesting and the combination of fish and sweetness reminiscent of some Cantonese dishes I have tried. The main course was local venison of sensational quality, served with a nice savory sabaillon. Unfortunately, there was a hidden vegetable with an extremely hot pepper infusion that burned the mouth. Guests should at least be warned. The pastry chef is most likely not the tv star main chef. He/She is much better! The home made sorbets and ice creams were superb and the soufflé cooked to perfection. Although there was no sommelier the night we went (poor form for a place that is so expensive), the waiter valiantly did the job reserved for 3 in a restaurant of this level. When one of our friends commented that she did not like the first course, the waitress seemed like she was going to have a conniption and, after asking if everything in the dish had been adequately prepared (no flies in the sauce? burnt fish? what did she mean?), offered no solace or replacements. There was no sign of the chef.
