I did a pub crawl to Matrix on 14/10/10. My fiance and I had a really negative experience at Matrix nightclub.
When the pub crawl arrived, I turned around and my fiance was missing. Everyone else went inside and I waited out the front for him. Within a few minutes, my fiance turned up - he had run into a cafe to use their bathroom.
The tall large bouncer on the door that evening 14/10/10 is one of the rudest men I have ever met. It would have been less than 10 minutes after the others had walked in when we tried to enter. The bouncer initially refussed to let us in. When we asked why, he just said we were too late! We explained that we were on the pub crawl and we knew that everyone else had just been let in, and so he said that the only way in which we were getting in was if my fiance - who was 100% not drunk - stood on one foot and counted backwards from 10 like a monkey. My fiance did this correctly with much embarrassment, but the bouncer simply laughed and told me that I could get in for free, but my fiance had to pay €15. We had already paid for the pub crawl which included free entry to this club. I again politely explained the situation, but he would not listen and then talked to the other bouncers in German about us, laughing and being very obnoxious.
I appreciate that in his job he comes across many drunk unpleasant people, but we were neither drunk and certainly initially very polite.
He let me in to try to find our guide, but would not let my fiance in. Again, he never gave us a reason and I can hand on heart say that neither of us were drunk (I had only had two drinks all night). I could not find our guide of course, so the night ended there for us on a very dissappointing note.
As we were leaving, five other people from the group left with us, having seen me when I was inside - they had all thought that the bouncer was incredibly arrogant and rude also.
Don't bother going here - it wasn't any good anyway when I got in to find our guide - pretty empty and full of men - now the real reason he would not let my fiance in becomes obvious.
