“super for supper”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

We were a party of 4 from Britain whose experience of Berlin was very new. We had picked up how good the restaurant was from yourselves but the feeling when you walked in was wonderful sulky, dim lights beautifully laid tables and lots of atmosphere from the guests and staff.
We spent several hours there as it was so relaxing, together with great food, beer and wine. Our host Ellie was great fun and we shared some memories on different meanings in lauguages!!

You would never find the restaurant unless you knew where you were going, we are so glad we knew

“Worth a trip to Berlin just to eat here”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

Wonderful place - really old fashioned. Service was very friendly and food really authentic
I had the pork knuckle and my wife sauerkraut. Both were 10 out of 10. Portions are huge so beware
This was my second visit. Will always return when I am in Berlin!

“Wonderful dining experience”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

We ate here last night and really enjoyed the meal/atmosphere. Our waitress, Ellie, made wonderful recommendations of food/wine/desserts and made us feel very comfortable. A woman who seemed to be the owner or manager came around multiple times asking us how everything was tasting. You feel as if you are in someone's German home. Highly recommended!!

“Mediocre eating experience”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

We ate here because of the many positive reviews on TA and because my father came from an area in Germany which was famous for this kind of food. The chef must have been out when we were here in August, the duck was more bones than meat and not crispy. When it came time to order desserts we were told by the manager not to bother as the kitchen was backed up and it would take a long time.

“Don't be put off by the exterior!”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

We booked the restaurant as a result of reading the reviews on TA. If we hadn't done so, we would never have found it & even if we had, we wouldn't have gone in as the exterior of the building is shrouded in scaffolding so that you can hardly see the unimpressive entrance. We were made very welcome by the owner once we got inside.

The East Prussian food was different from other regional German food and certainly looked and tasted as if it had been home cooked. I would not chose to eat the bread dumpling again as it tasted as it sounds! Apart from the dumpling, we enjoyed our meal and had a very pleasant bottle of Austrian red wine to accompany it.

We finished our meal with a Prussian Liquer which was exclusive to the restaurant.
