Despite the romantic atmospher and the bourgeois setting (high ceilings, simple yet elegant decor) the food was disappointing. My dissatisfaction began when i saw the menu. There was neither any french classics nor any continental equivalents that could simply save the day for us. We had a dull turbot fish with shrimp risotto. Its fair to say that the fish lacked flavour while the risotto lacked fish!!! There simply was no hint of a shrimp in it. We also had black pudding which is a kind of blood sausage and it simply reeked of blood but i cant be critical of it as it was the first time i had any. But all i can say is that it was too overwhelming of an experience that it killed my taste buds. We had cheese platter as desert and there was nothing special about it. The waitress brought a huge wooden serving plate on which there were 6 kinds of cheese and she told me that i could choose 4. So i chose and she sliced the thinnest slices ever and i was officially offended! As to the wine it was the waitress' recommendation and like the rest of the meal it was below average. I could even go so far as to say that it was the worst wine i ever had in berlin. After all those lovely reislings that i had in various pubs in germany, wine at le cochon left me wondering how on earth they managed to fail at the wine department too! After all is said and done, i must warn you not to go there if you are after a smooth dinner experience.
