“Very old, could not handle a compay of 50 people”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

Was there in the weekend. It could not handle a company of 50 people. Breakfast was awfull, not even coffee could they keep up with. Very small dining room, with very leaky windows, so very cold. Reception on first floor, rooms on the 4th and 5th floor. 5th floot room only possible to reach through a narrow staircase. Rooms very old, windows were leaky, not much insulation at the roof so in -5 deg. Celsius outside temperature the ceiling felt very cold.
Would not ever recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel was easy to find via taxi from tegel it cost 14 euro. The staff were lovely and let us store our luggage there as we arrived too early to check in. However after a busy and eventually cold day at the christmas markets we were very dissapointed at the room. It was cold as there was just a storage heater which you were not able to adjust. There are not coffee/tea making facilities in the room or a hairdryer or iron. It was just too basic for us. On the plus side the location is fantastic to explore Berlin, lots of shops near by and excellent access to the underground. Dont get taken in by thinking you need to buy a ticket for one of the many hop on/off tourist busses because we found it simple and much cheaper to navigate the city via foot/underground, and we saw most of the attractions. Also KaDeWe the department store is extremely upmarket, prada/gucci/mulberry etc so if you done fancy that kind of shopping i would give it a miss. Got to the Brandenburg gate at night, it is lit up and beautiful. We plan to go back to Berlin again in the summer, but would not stay here again, even a travelodge has more facilities. Also i must add that we did not complain to the hotel, as we just used the hotel as a place to sleep, although it would have been nice to have more facilities, to not be able to have a hot drink in your room to me is below standard. So to be fair the hotel were unaware of our problems.. but i felt future travellers need to be aware of just how basic the accomodation is, many people i am sure would not see the issues i have raised as a problem.

As stated by other reviewers, this hotel isn't anything flash, or designer inspired - it is a very comfortable place to rest your head (and feet!) after a long day exploring Berlin - what more does a traveller need?

We stayed 3 nights here, and I couldnt rate the place highly enough. Sure the decor, and furniture is dated and not modern, but that doesnt really matter. The rooms were comfortable, extremely spacious, and clean. The bathroom, while small, was more than adequate, and the shower very powerful with plenty of hot water.

We were travelling with a small child, and the staff could not have been more attentive to him and his needs.

Breakfast is served between 7 and 10, and was fabulous. A great selection you would expect from a hotel in Germany, with lovely fresh breads and wonderful coffee.

Transport links to the main attractions were plentiful, with bus stops, and the Ubahn right on the doorstep.

In summary, a gem of a place, in a great location, with fantastic and incredibly helpful staff, many thanks for a wonderful stay

The hotel is well located if you're looking for a nice and secure residential area with good transport facilities to the downtown - it's really close to the u-bahn (adenauerplatz) and the area is really tranquil and secure. However if you feel like having a beer in the afternoon, I would look for something closer to the downtown. The hotel itself is however really nice, although the decoration of the rooms (and the furniture) is a bit old, but still clean and well maintained. We stayed in a double room - very big bed and comfortable bed, big bathroom. The breakfast was ok and the staff really helphul. Oh, they also have good wi-fi free of charge. And there is an irish pub close by, although it was not really easy to find it ;D So altogether the place is nice and clean, a real good value for money in Berlin, but I don't think I will stay there again - I would prefer a more lively areas.

Is located in a convenient place with easy access to travel routes. Rooms were big enough for 3 of us, and were cleaned to a good standard. Bathroom however is badly designed. Struggled to get out the shower because the sink is in the way. And can't bend over the sink because the shelf is in the way! Staff were helpful and eager to speak English. Breakfast ok, just your average continental which you'd expect. Overall good for a traveller on a budget.

This small hotel occupies one floor of the house. Very cozy and clean rooms, though the furniture in the room old but well maintained. Bathroom looks great and modern on the background of old furniture in a room in the hotel good service and a standard breakfast in a small dining room.
The hotel is located on the street Kurfürstendamm, which is considered the head of the street for shopping in Berlin. In walking distance from the hotel metro Adenauerplatts.
If you are on a business trip or vacation and do not plan to spend most of their time at the hotel, the CITY wish for you.

The city hotel am Kurfurstendamm is very well situated, right on the Kurfurstendamm. It is less than a 2 minute walk to the u-bahn (subway) station adenauerplatz, where also a lot of busses have a stop.
Along the Ku'damm there are a lot of shops, the most nearest to the hotel are quite upscale, but also more chains are there. The side streets are full of restaurants, and very close to the hotel there are some bakeries and a bar. The walk to restaurants is a bit farther then one might think, since the Ku'damm is very long. But almost in front of the hotel there is a bus stop, where you can take a bus along the Ku'damm. If you have a welcome card of city card, you can access the bussess for free.

The hotel ads say it is a 3 star hotel, but I would not rate it more than 2,5 stars.
It is located on the first and 4th and 5th floors of an typically older Berlin building, with the building built around a central courtyard. There is a small elevator.
There is no real lobby, next to the reception desk there is one chair and a display of some tourist flyers, with a drink and snack machine. There is a breakfast area. On the first floor, the rooms are located either on the reception side, or on the other side of the central hallway. The rooms on the 5th floor can be accessed by going to the 4th floor by elevator, and then taking the stairs to the 5th floor.

The rooms are nothing special, perhaps some a tad outdated in design, but they are clean, with good beds, a seat, tv and small but clean bathroom. Don't expect fanacy designed or hip decors, but for a good night's sleep during a city trip, the rooms will suffice.
I stayed in a single room at the courtyard. The room was not large, but there was enough space for a suitcase and moving around a bit, next to a single bed, 2 smaller tables and chairs and a closet. There was no noise from outside, only sometimes you would hear the taps from the nextdoor bathroom. The rooms on the Ku'damm had a bit more outside noise, but it wasn't very disturbing, but this was in winter.

The staff was okay, they were helpfull when they could. I have read reviews stating they could hardly speak english, but eventhough I mostly spoke german with them, their english seemed more than okay to me!

There is wifi, but you have to ask coupons for that, which are free, but only valid for 1 hour after logging in. Mostly I got more than 1 at a time though, so no problem there.

All in all, for a (short) city trip, the hotel is okay, as it is clean, good located and mostly a fair price-quality comparison. As you pay less than in better hotels, don't expect superior amenities.
For a city trip I would again consider the hotel, if budget was not too large.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 5th floor are under the roof and can only be reached by stairs from the 4th floor. Ther...
