Motel One Berlin-Hackescher Markt

Travelling through Europe, one expects to be looted in broad daylight by hotels, restaurants, pubs and even museums. That's why Berlin is so refreshing. Take European prices, slash it by 25%, and then remove a few Euros - that's Berlin price for you.
Even so, Motel One offers excellent value for money. I stayed at Alexanderplatz (downtown Berlin) for about 65 Euros a night, and it was awesome. In no way was it a 'budget' hotel.
My window literally opened out into the square, with an outstanding view of the TV Tower in all its 1960s charm, just 3 minutes walk away. Even closer is the Alexanderplatz station, which has connections to nearly every major landmark within the city (as well as, if I'm right, to other cities). My tour met at the entrance to the TV Tower (as do many other tours), so that was convenient as well. Alexanderplatz is also 'happening' with pubs, eateries and hangout joints just outside the main square. The Museum district (more like a square) and many other places of interest (DDR Museum, etc) are walkable, but one can also catch buses from the bus stop which is also just a few steps away. For such an awesome location, M.O.Alex's rates are very reasonable.
Upon arrival, I got checked in in under 3 minutes. I arrived at midnight but there were no hassles at the desk. Payment is up-front, by cash or card. Ask the receptionist for your wi-fi login/password (its quick, and hey..its free!)
The room was sufficiently large, very well done, and had just the right amount of furniture. The bathroom was a little small but spotless and well stocked.
Breakfast is a buffet that an Easterner might label bland, but it worked. Mostly the usual European fare - Cereal, Croissant, butter/jam/spread, Juices, Tea/Coffee, Fruit salad. Nothing exciting but decent stuff to get you on your way.
In summary - an outstanding option for tourists wanting an decent, clean place to stay in a good location at an affordable price.

Nice modern hotel with great location close to Alexanderplatz (shopping) and Hackesche Markt (bars and restaurants). 10 minutes walk to Unter the Linden.

The rooms are small, but nice

Breakfast is good.

Spent four nights here with my son. Very central location Alexanderplatz station just two minutes away for connections all over the city. And cross city buses 100 and 200 just around the corner too! The hotel is modern and minimalist but still has a comfortable and attractive foyer and sitting area. Rooms are simple and clean, although fairly sparsely furnished - not a lot of storage space, clearly designed for short stay visitors. All the same they are comfortable to sleep in overnight. Good buffet style breakfast is extra but you can have lots to eat! Staff very polite and speak english. Would definately recomment for short stay in Berlin.

This hotel was lovely to stay in, with large, clean rooms and centrally located to town and public transport. While our room faced the main street and was opposite to a busy train line we did not hear a thing through the double glazed windows. One of the best nights sleep we had the whole trip! Would definitely recommend staying here.

stayed in this hotel from 30th sept to 4th oct. arrived late after a day of delays etc and was very pleased with the quick check-in. as it was our first visit, reception gave us a map of the city (nice touch) the rooms where small but an ideal base for us as we went out most mornings and only came back for an hour or so late afternoon to get changed for dinner. right beside the train station, a life saver after a day of sight seeing. room was very clean, and although small, really comfortable. city is great and well worth a visit. trains connect the entire city and we got a berlin 72 hr welcome card (25.90E) which paid itself back with the amount of money off discounts we got.
all in all a great city, a bargain hotel, and a fantastic time. we will be back and we will use motel one alexanderplatz again!

I stayed here for the Berlin inline marathon.
As stated before the rooms are simple and clean. No closet,No phone and no alarm clock.
As common in Germany the shower door only covers half of the shower opening.(it might
get wet on the bathroom floor).
The people at the front desk were good. And they did speak english.
There are 12 parking stalls in the garage. You might want to request one at the time of the booking.
Breakfast is 7.50 Euro.Fresh bread,cheese,salami,fruit,cerial,tea,coffe and juice.
You can get a toast in the evening if you don't want to leave.
Wifi is free in the lobby.
NOTE WIFI IS FREE IN YOUR ROOM AND LOBBY IF YOU BUY BREAKFAST:)
The walk from the hotel to Brandenburger Gate(start and finnish) is about 30-40 minutes.
No safe in room or at the front desk.

I went for a long weekend in Berlin and was looking for an economic hotel located at the heart of east Berlin, Alexanderplatz. I've stayed at Motel One and although it is economic and very well located the rooms are very small and in my personal opinion is just too standard for a hotel located in the creative area of west Berlin. What I mean is that the hotels belonging to this chain look all the same regardless of the city and the location and I don't feel that the design and the set up of the hotel is really appealing. So overall I think the service is good and the location great but next time I will rather stay in some more confy and cozy place with more identity!! This one is more suitable for economic business overnights.
