Best Western Hotel Berlin-Mitte

Let's be honest. Honest. For the price this hotel in this location is 4/5. For a hotel in Europe, it is 3/5. For what I expected, anticipated and hoped for it is a 2/5. Here is the nitty: 1. We drove into town. I asked for parking and a disabled room. We got neither. Even though online advertisements show parking included the fine print is you must go two blocks away to park your car. Walking to park my car is not a pleasurable pastime for me. This is despite the fact that once in the hotel you might find there are three parking spaces at the hotel that cost €3 more than he garage. They were not offered. We're they full? Well, maybe, but not from what I could tell. Oh, wait. See picture. The rooms are typically European tiny. That is okay. The DO have free wifi Internet. We could have stayed at the Ibis with parking and Internet for less. Daughter said no more stiff mattresses. Breakfast is good and priced the same as elsewhere in Germany. What drops this hotel from my recommendation is the way we (I), a hard of hearing, crippled old man were/was treated throughout. My recommendations for improvement include telling tourists they can buy their Berlin Welcome Card right there. Providing coffee 24x7 free for guests. Put it in the price. It is an international hotel. Honor the do not disturb signs. Honor the clean my room, please, signs and give people clean towels without having to ask, at least. Could have stayed at a 4 star for the same price. Check it for yourself.

Room Tip: Not much choice, I think. They are all quiet. Right next to an air raid shelter, next to the Ukrain...

This is a great hotel in an awesome location. The room we got is "compact" but nice and clean and modern. There is a huge window so it doesnt feel too small.

It is very close to a train stop (only one stop from Berlin Hbf). It is walking distance to Museum Island as well as many other famous spots.

Cheapest price I could find for a hotel in Berlin without skipping out on amenities! Free wifi, A/C, in-room safe, friendly staff, few steps away from a parking garage, walking distance from many restaurants, bars, and Museum Island. The location is PERFECT, we didn't have to use any public transportation or take out our car. To walk to all the restaurants, make a left from the hotel and a left onto Reinhardtstrasse and keep walking until you get to Friedrichstrasse and that's the main road with all the restaurants, bars, and even museum island. It's that easy! The room was small and the bed had a crack in the middle, but that's typical for most European rooms and we had plenty of space to walk around and get dressed and such. The breakfast seems expensive for 9 Euro, but it's a buffet and even had scrambled eggs and sausage, along with fresh fruits, cereal, breads, meats and cheeses so we were happy with it the one day that we used it and regretted not eating there the previous days. The hotel even locked up our luggage for free on check-out day so we could still travel the city before we left and not have to carry our luggage around. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. There was also an elevator lift, which not all European hotels have. We are definitely staying here again if we go back to Berlin as we couldn't be happier! This was a great value for a European hotel!

Great location within walking distance of most sights, very helpful staff, excellent value and quality of breakfast except for the coffee, room was super small and carpet was stained but everything else was spotless especially the bathroom and toilet. Would use this hotel again

Room Tip: Don't choose a room looking out on to the old bunker unless you use air conditioning and don'...

Chose the Best Western for value and location and we were very pleased with our choice. Easy from Schoenfeld airport - just hop on the Airport Express from the train station and I think Friedrichstrasse was the 4th stop. It was then 5 mins walk from Friedrichstrasse Station - head for the footbridge over the River Spree and it brings you onto Albrechstrasse where The Best Western is straight up the road on the right. Most of the main sights are within walking distance of the hotel - Brandenberg Gate, Die Adlon Hotel, Reichstag (suggest you book online in advance as there is usually a very long queue to get tickets as they scan every passport for entry - about 2+ hours when we were there so we gave up), Unter Den Linden, Neue Wache, all the Museums, shopping and boat trips. We also did a walking tour of Potsdam for the day with New Berlin Tours, but did find it a bit exhausting as there is a lot of walking - beautiful palaces and park though.

Room was clean, compact and comfortable with floor length windows along the one side. Yes, the open shower arrangement may not be suitable for friends sharing, but as a couple we had no problem with it at all. We booked a 'comfort' double room for an extra few euros to have a view out the back of the hotel as opposed to facing the WWII bunker nextdoor.

We found the breakfasts excellent for 9 euros each - 'a veritable feast' in the mornings with juices, cereals, a reasonable choice of fruit and yoghurt, scrambled and boiled eggs, bacon, sausages like frankfurters, sometimes meatballs/rissoles, lovely smoked salmon, hams, cheeses, tomatoes, cucumbers etc. etc. and croissants, bread and rolls, cake, tea and coffee. After all that we usually struggled to eat any lunch at all often just having a Goulash Soup until dinner. We never had a problem getting a table at breakfast at whatever time we went into the breakfast room but we did stay Monday-Friday so maybe that made a difference.

Staff were very good and helpful with any questions. Small bar and internet are in the corner of reception if you need either.

For meals out in the evening, you are really spoilt for choice in the area. If you don't want to walk far just go down to The Spree where we ate in Berliner Republik, Kartofellkeller and La Parrilla - the Argentinian Steak House - all were pretty good. Bit further away off Friedrichstrasse we ate in Ruben & Carla on Linienstrasse and Bonfini Italian on Chaussenstrasse - both excellent in different ways. Think most of these are listed on Tripadvisor Restaurants.

So all in all, for us, we had a great trip to Berlin. If you want luxury and a restaurant on site then it may not be for you, but we found it ideal for what we wanted.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a 'comfort double' if you want a quieter room with view to the back as opposed to...

First time to Berlin,so no previous experience with Hotel choice. This hotel was in a central location for all of the central sights and public transport. Hotel was excellent for my purpose, the rooms were on the small side but this is a central location at an affordable price, all I used the room for was to shower and to sleep. Breakfast was an extra 9 euros each. The room was very clean and functional. Wi-fi was free in the room. Staff were very helpful. No restaurant on site but there were numerous choices in the surrounding roads.

We chose this hotel because of its location, which proved to be the best. A 2 block walk from the Friedrichsstrasse subway & elevated station, it is also an easy walk to Museum Island, Unter den Linden and East Berlin's action generally. The hotel itself is straight forward, not elegant, but the price conscious breakfast is excellent and the service also very friendly and helpful.
