A long weekend in Berlin for our anniversary, it was wet and windy and having viewed the shops and took the ever present guided bus tour. My wife and I thought we would try a walking tour. We met up outside McDonalds across the road from the train station, we were even unsure of what tour to take, but our minds were made up within seconds of being welcomed by Nigel, and then adventure began. What a fountain of knowledge Nigel is, he had time to speak to each person on the tour and personalized his answers, He recounted his own personal experience of life both sides of the wall. I myself having served in Germany during the period of the cold war found his knowledge was amazing. Highly recommended,

I would highly recommend this walking tour of Berlin. The guide, Mike who was originally from NZ, gave us a wonderful insight to his adopted city. His stories about his in-laws from the DDR were particularly interesting.

You should do this at the start of your visit to Berlin as it gives lots of pointers for things to do for the rest of the stay.

Barnaby provided our group with a phenomenal lesson in world history; Using his magic stick he explained the geography of Berlin and how it morphed throughout WWII, as well as the Cold War and the boundaries it created. As we walked through the city, Barnaby gave us insight on the architecture and how it reflected various cultural movements. He explained the politics, reactionary trends and their effects upon the city. All of this was articulated with humor and wit. This was a very enjoyable experience, and I have a much better understanding of Berlin because of it.

We had the most amazing guide Barnaby! Couldn't have asked for a better tour. Great story teller and very informative. Loved it!

We had a couple if days in Berlin on a short break for our anniversary. This was supposed to be the first day's entertainment, but we decided against it due to the non stop rain! Thankfully we went for it on the second day, despite having done the bus tour the day before.

This was truly the most informative 4 hours I've ever spent in a city. Our guide, Maria was fabulous, with an awesome knowledge of the city and a wonderful sense of humour that made our time with her fly by, yet leave us wanting to go back round for another four hours at the end as we really didn't want it to stop.

We saw all the main parts of the Berlin story that are worth hearing- detailed background information to go alongside the scenery and nothing caught her out.

If you are here for a short period and interested in the history of this great city, the. You must do this walk- and I hope you are lucky enough to get Maria (no offence meant to the other no doubt wonderful guides)!
