This monument was apparently designed to disorientate the viewer because of its associations, but I felt something like the Menin Gate in Ypres would have been more appropriate. It didn't give me the feel of the loss of real people - in fact it seemed almost more of an adventure playground for children, which really can't have beenj the intention.

This is a must see in Berlin. We visited twice; once on a city walking tour and a second time by ourselves. While the outside memorial is powerful do not miss the underground portion.

Very simple and humbling but a brilliant memorial that will affect your well-being. Very moving and powerful symbols - piece of art that will dominate your soul, that all of us are subject to pain because of our vulnerability. An interesting designs that would reflect our inner feelings how other people suffered much.

Walk through this memorial and you get a strange feeling that you are lost, like being in a maze. The various heights of the stones gives a very surreal feeling. It seems appropriate for a memorial of such a tragedy.

Initial reaction was "er what's the meaning"..... Then you walk in, then you get lost, panicked and fearful. Very evocative. Even if you know of the history of the Holocaust it's a strange sensation that brings certain things to mind
