we were upset by the lack of respect given to this memorial by people running around, jumping on blocks and screaming at each other and laughing rather than contemplating what this was for.
I wanted to spend time in quiet reflection of my family's loss but I just got angry.

The museum under neath was closed on Monday so we could not get to see the exhibition area. Top is free and children will like the maze like stone blocks

This memorial is very moving and really makes you think about some of the individuals whose personal stories are documented here.

We've all read accounts of how many millions were killed under the Nazi regime but where this museum differs is that it will allow you to contextualise it by reading what that horror meant to one specific family. Of course this museum features the stories of many such families but it allows you to think a little deeper about the abject torture endured by the individual.

Facinating installation, and its big so will not be crammed with tourists. A must see in Berlin. Great stop for on a bike tour around the city.

I can't believe this was the best option for a memorial to murdered Jews in Europe. It wasn't moving or thought provoking. I was expecting something that has the impact of the Vietnam memorial in Washington, DC, USA. Here, people are sitting on the headstones eating, kids are running around, and no one appeared to be reflecting. I can't blame them! This memorial does nothing to evoke reverence, respect, or reflection. Unfortunately, it's all we have, so take a look. You may have an entirely different reaction. I hope so!
