Any one who fails to be moved by this memorial must have a heart of stone. Although symbolised by a series of large grey monolithic styled stones, the more you move into the memorial the more it is sheltered from the sun. The ground drops away and the stones become larger as you progress, as such, the temperature drops and it gets very cool thus increasing the atmosphere.

The Memorial is an integral part of Berlin, just like the Wall and the Brandenburg Gate. The memorial above ground is a breathtaking experience, which leaves you with a new understanding of the cemetery wasteland that Europe's Jews had to cope with after the Holocaust, and the museum underground is a completes it perfectly.
I would not advise parents with young children to go there, it might be a bit too hard for children who don't understand what happened in the Holocaust, older children will only benefit from the experience.

Taking a walk through the rows of stone monuments fills you with a heavy sadness, but it is fascinating to see how they grow taller and taller as you walk through the maize-like walkways.

I really loved this. It is a wonderful piece of art and a fitting memorial to the victims of the Holocaust.

A brilliant memorial to one of the great tragedies of the human race. It really gives the feeling. Of course, match it with a visit to the Jewish Museum by Liebkind.
