“The perfect find!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2013

My husband and I stayed at this boutique hotel for a few days with a couple of friends. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Berlin. This hotel is special for four key reasons: location, quality, price and service.

Location, location, location. The hotel is very centrally located in "West Berlin" (this is an advantage because most of "East Berlin" is still a noisy and dusty construction site) and it is close to the main transport links (both underground and aboveground) which makes sightseeing easy. The charming Savigny platz lined with restaurants and bars is a short stroll from the hotel and the main Berlin shopping street is just around the corner. Despite being so central, this is a place where you can get some rest. The street on which the hotel is located is quiet and lined with trees.

The hotel is completely renovated and consists of 18 guest rooms, a breakfast area with a small balcony and a reception hall. The rooms have high ceilings, modern furniture and fittings and a very comfortable bed. As the name of the hotel suggests, Magritte inspired frescos can be found throughout. The place is brand new (opened not more than 6 months ago) and impeccably clean. The breakfasts are fresh, tasty and plentiful. Importantly, you don't have to pay through the nose for this luxury. The prices are very reasonable at 100-120 Euros per night per room with breakfast. It really is the perfect place to stay for those who are bored with the blandness of hotel chains and the anonymity of modern travel.

The couple who owns and runs the hotel is extremely helpful, warm and easygoing. They take the time to make you feel at home and to recommend the best places in the area for food and drinks as well as the most interesting museums and sites in Berlin. We also really appreciated that they were fine with us checking out late on our last day.

We stayed for three nights. The room was very clean, and the bathroom was spotless. The rooms are done in a minimalist style, with no unnecessary clutter. The hotel is in an old building, with very high ceilings. Everything is freshly restored. And, very importantly, the beds are truly comfortable.

The location is excellent, very close to the underground and above-ground rail (u-bahn and s-bahn). The street is quiet, with relatively light traffic, and a car park is nearby.

The enthusiastic hosts were very helpful, offering useful advice and information about the city. They recommended several restaurants, which turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. It's very rare for the hosts to take such an interest in ensuring that their guests have a good stay, but this is the sort of place where you can find exactly that!

The breakfast was very good, with all the usual ingredients, all fresh and good quality. The dining area has a balcony overlooking the tree-lined street.

There are murals throughout the hotel, giving it a very unique and surreal atmosphere.

We will definitely stay there again, the next time we visit Berlin, and we're very glad that we found it in the midst of all the other offers -- this boutique hotel really stands out.

This boutique hotel is a wonderful gem in a great location, close to the K'damm and subway lines but with loads of restuarants and bars within walking distance. The decor and art work provide a beautiful ambience and Roman and Aurelia are fabulous hosts who go to the extra effort of making one feel at home and totally comfortable

Difficult to add anything to the other reviews here, I'd just like to confirm what a lovely time we had. Roman was everything we'd heard, the hotel and art work surpassed our expectations, the breakfasts were superb (Smoked Salmon and soft boiled eggs...divine) and the location couldn't be better.

We flew into Tegel and caught the bus (2.4 euros every ten mins) to Zoologischer Garten, which is only fifteen minutes walk away. U-bahn and S-bahn stations are even closer.

The area around Savignyplatz is packed with bars and restaurants and we can recommed Tastees (soul food) 12 Apostels (pizza) Restaurant Brel (french) Dicke Wirtin (german and fine beer) and Mr Hai for cocktails (we didn't try their vietnamese food)

All in all we'll recommend this hotel to anyone going to Berlin and we shall return and use this as a base as soon as possible.

A couple of weeks ago I took a party of 28 people to stay for 4 nights at what I thought was going to be a nice little hotel that we could just use as a base...well, how wrong was I!!!

From the moment we arrived to when we left - nothing was too much for Roman (the owner).

The hotel itself was brilliant - Great location, 2 minute walk in either direction to the Trains and tubes - 200 yards from the shops, even less from some great inexpensive restaurants. The decor amazing, the investment made in modernising the building whilst maintaining much of the original character was certainly worth it;The rooms were spotlessly clean, Beds had Fresh linen and were very comfortable, Breakfast was excellent as were the little touches such as tea and biscuits in the afternoon, coffee in the evening.

However you can say the above about a number of hotels so what was the difference...Roman & Aurelia were the difference...the care and attention they show all their guests is something very rare nowadays because they are not being paid to do it, they do it because they genuinely care that their guests get the best from both the hotel and a wonderful city

We will be staying there again in November and are really looking forward to it.

Great base from which to explore Berlin with both s and u line stations within 5 minutes walk from the hotel and an abundance of great cafes and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The stay was made extra special by our attentive hosts who were always ready to help plan our day and assist us in any way possible.
One very nice touch was the hospitality extended to us on the last day when we returned to pick up our luggage from storage and met up with the entire Stemerowicz family over coffee and cakes!
All in all a great stay.

We have just returned from this hotel after a 5 night stay which was booked as part of a hockey "tour". Although my husband and myself had no involvement with the selection we couldn't have done better - the hotel is brilliant - wonderful location - 2 minute walk in either direction to either Savignyplatz or Uhlandstrasse for the S or U lines and the same distance for the 109 directly to Tegel Airport. Also a supermarket, various shops and restaurants all within a short distance of the hotel, with the tour buses practically passing the bottom of the road. Roman, the owner, and his wife could not do enough for any of their guests - the rooms were charming and the beds, duvets and pillows so comfortable. The breakfast was amazing - lots of fresh fruit, eggs, loads of different types of bread, cheese and meats. And some lovely touches - like tea and biscuits on our return from a long day sightseeing and tea/coffee available on our return in the evening after dinner - they really went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The free Wifi was an added bonus!! We cannot rate this hotel highly enough - it really was a pleasure to stay there - an oasis in the city.
