“This is a truly amazing hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2011

I am fortunate to have stayed at some of the 'must do' hotels around the world and whilst usually these hotels deliver in the main, there is usually at least one minor thing that irks or just isn't quite right. Not so with the Hotel de Rome - it was perfection! From our initial contact with the concierge to our departure everything was just so.

We were on holiday with our 11yo son and stayed in a classic suite. The suite was beautiful with a red and grey colour scheme. Plenty of room for the rollaway bed too. There was a tv in the living room and one in the bedroom which worked well for us, especially given the xbox 360 that was thoughtfully supplied for our DS's use! The suite had an enormous bathroom with an adjoining dressing room.

I made contact with the concierge before our visit to get restaurant recommendations and arrange for some amenities to be in our room for our arrival. Communication was good, with emals responded to promptly and written in a friendly manner. Breakfast, which is included in the suite deal, was excellent a good range of buffet items with additional menu for eggs and other hot dishes.

The location of the hotel is good, being close to Freidrichstrasse for shopping and close to Germandmenmarkt for restaurants and cafes. A two minute walk takes you t the Unter den Linden where the 100 bus takes you to the Zoo (and the K'dam) and to Alexanderplatz in the opposite direction. Museum island is about a five minute walk away. There are two underground stops within a few minutes walk too.

We ate at a number of restaurants within walking distance if the hotel and the standard of food available was excellent.

Berlin is a super City and the Hotel de Rome is a wonderful base from which to enjoy it! On a sunny evening, nothing beats a cocktail on the roof terrace watching the starlings swooping and flocking across the beautiful city vistas.

We stayed for one night while visiting friends in the city.

Everything about the place was five-star and very slick, modern and stylish and not at all stuffy or full of itself.

Great marble bathroom and stylish but minimally furnished bedroom - attention to detail everywhere.

Nice live music late in the evening at the ground floor bar and great cocktails

One tiny criticism though - the corridors and room all had that horrid cruise ship airless smell. They had opened the bedroom window before we got there but this did not fix the problem. This should not have been overlooked and was totally preventable as corridors did all have windows.

Thoroughly recommend - can't think of anywhere I have liked more. Looks like I need to try the other Rocco Forte places.

I visited this hotel as part of a business trip staying for two nights. It's in a great location for sightseeing and very easy to get to from the train stations. I came in from Schoenfeld and it only took about 40 minutes with just one change.

The room itself was very large, the bed was big and very very comfortable! The bathroom was great - the shower is huge, very powerful and there is plenty of nice cosmetics to use :0) There's a safe and a well stocked mini bar, a proper hair dryer along with a large tv and lots of wardrobe space.

I was on the 4th floor which is also where the roof top drinks terrace is. This was great and afforded really nice views. We had canapes and drinks - the food was delicious and the service excellent! The furniture up there was very comfortable and it would have been easy to spend a nice sunny evening up there.

On our first day we had lunch in the restaurant - I have no idea about the cost but the food and service again were excellent. There is a nice garden area to that restaurant too.

The hotel has a central location and has very high standards. The building used to be a bank, but is now transformed into a hotel with a fantastic rooftop terrasse, a very nice inside bar, restaurant, business center and not least spacious, comfortable and very welcoming rooms. All is topped by very polite and smiling staff, that do their utmost to make my stay perfect.

The Hotel de Rome is the place to stay in Berlin. The location is fantastic, walkable to the museums, Unter den Linden, Checkpoint Charlie, the Holocaust Memorial and the Jewish Museum, as well as to great restaurants and shopping. The hotel itself is spectacular, beautifully designed, modern redo of a historic bank building, gorgeous spa, fantastic breakfast. The staff are all so friendly and the concierge staff particularly helpful. I wish I could live at this hotel! Oh, and they are very kid friendly, they have a special kids registration form, they greeted us with a personalized cookie, coloring book and pencils, kid sized robe and slippers, my 8 year old loved it,

This is a beautiful hotel set inside what was a bank before World War II. It is in a very grand style with modern dramatic furnishings. The location is excellent, in the Mitte section just a few steps from Unter den Linden. Our room was on the first floor with ceilings of about 20 feet. It was appointed brilliantly, with a fab walk in closet, very comfortable bed and a large and beautifully done bathroom. The style of the room is modern and a bit masculine.
The staff were very accomodating especially the concierges Anna, Felix and Benjamin.
Our breakfast was not included, but beware if yours is not, the breakfast buffet (which is gorgeous) cost 32 Euros a head. There are several cafes in the area which are good for breakfast.

Room Tip: Be sure if theres a wedding on the Saturday evening of your stay that you get a room as remote as po...

Hotel de Rome is located on Bebelplatz, off Unter den Linden.
