“Free WiFi but its 50 meters up the road”
Reviewed June 21, 2012

Arriving at Berlin Schönefeld Airport its a simple 7 euro train ride that last about 30mins into the city. Your station for this hotel is the "Friedrichstraße station". On arrival at your platform head downstairs (follow the crowd) and keep an eye out for the high level directional signs that indicate the street exit for Friedrichstraße. Once your at the exit its a simple 2 minute walk to the hotel.

Unfortunately we couldn't get our room till 3pm, which meant hanging around for nearly 2 hours - so am docking the Melia a half point for that I'm afraid. However, once checked in we found our room to be very nice.

Like everyone has already said its a fabby location for getting around all the must see spots in Berlin, but again am docking half a point for being charged 4 euro to access the web.... Come on Melia its 2012 and Starbucks (50 meters up the road) gives free access!!

The hotel is comfortable. The rooms are spacious and the location is perfect! It is not a boutique type or authentic. It's a standard hotel with standard furnishing. But in Berlin it doesn't matter. I really liked the hotel and I could have easily given it 5 stars but I didn't! The reason is the lack of internet access. For this reason the hotel loses 2 stars for me. It's such a simple service and the hotel fails to provide it. There is no wireless internet and you have to pay to use the pcs in the lobby, which is ludicrous. This needs to be tackled.

The best thing about the hotel is its central location- close to everything in walking distance which is a massive help on a short trip to the city. Apart from the lack of tv channels and coffee making facilities in the room, a lovely place to stat

I stayed here in March 2012 for 3 nights. The hotel is located a stones throw from Friedrichstrasse station which was very handy when coming in on the train from Schoenefeld airport. It was a great base for sightseeing as the Brandenburg Gate was round the corner.

The room itself was clean and the bed comfortable. The hotel staff were very helpful.

I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Overlooking the river if possible. Lovely view.

We got the premium rooms. They were big and clean with a very large and comfortable bed and with enough place to sit and watch the wonderful view of the river. The hotel was close to so many sites and to the train station. We'll stay again at Melia next time we're in Berlin.

Stayed 4 nights in May 2012.

Location is great - central, easy walking distance to Reichstag, beside (200 m) U & S bahn station which makes it easy to get from airport especially on airport express.

Hotel is spotless, tastefully decorated, standard room has plenty of space, friendly professional helpful staff - definitely 4 star quality. Cheapest price was via hotel website, before taking account of the €15 per person per night voucher to use in bar/restuarant/room service.

I stayed in the Melia, Berlin for 2 nights on business. The rooms were a good size, good lighting, clean and a nice touch to have dressing gown and slippers provided in a standard room. The rooms were very quite despite the location. Some rooms overlook the river so ask for one of these if posible. The location is really good with the river, pubs and shops seconds away. I will come back here with my family and use it as a good central base to do the sights. All in all it ticked every box.
