Good quality hotel in the city center of Berlin. Very clean and comfertable rooms. Big and good quality bedding, no noise of other rooms, elevators or traffic.
Only minus that it was very hot in the room. Because we slept on the riverside there was too much traffic noise to sleep with the windows open. Next time I will ask for a room on the other side.
Sauna is also good and very clean. The gym is very small, so if you are a frequent sporter like me this will not meet your needs.
Breakfast is very good and complete, full-English breakfast, breads, yoghurt, fruit, pancakes, sweets, lots of cheeses and meat. Also champagne.
Personell is friendly.

Hotels in Berlin are really affordable, especially comparing to other European capitals, such as Rome, Paris and London. Generally Berlin offers a great deal of bargains. Melia hotel isn't a bargain ( about 125€ a double per night in July ) but I still recommend it to anyone who wants to have a good time in Berlin. With a nice view of the river, it's a few metres from Friedrichstraße station and at an excellent spot wherever you want to go. We stayed at a clean, spacious room, bright and nicely decorated. Cleaning service was rather slow - one day we returned at about 6:30pm and our room wasn't made up yet. The reception was helpful and if you know spanish, then that's an advantage, since I think all speak spanish. But then doesn't that apply to all Melia hotels? You 'd better book through the hotel's site since this way you might get a 15€ daily voucher.

Stayed for 4 nights on the 7th floor and used the excellent facilities in the "Level Club" which provides a great selection of light snacks and alcoholic beverages throughout the day completely free of charge. Standard of room was excellent with ample space and attention to detail. All members of staff were friendly, helpful and highly professional. Location is perfect for getting around all the attractions due to proximity of train station for U-Bahn and S-Bahn routes and within walking distance of Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag to name but a few. Would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

Room Tip: Worth paying the extra for a room on 'The Level' floors to enjoy additional facilities

We had our first stay with this hotel chain at the Melia Berlin in August for 5 days, and were very pleased with the whole experience.

First, it is on Friedrichstrasse, right in the centre of Berlin Mitte, and about 300 yards from a subway entrance. It is situated on the bank of the river Spree, and you can walk to the Reichstag from it - a leisurely walk along the river, about 20 mins. Taking the subway is the easiest way to get around, and from this location everything is in easy distance.

The hotel itself is well maintained and the staff were extremely helpful.
We started off with a regular room as a bed and breakfast, but, about 3 weeks before we left Canada, I went to the web site and found they had a sale on. We were able to get the special executive floor called The Level for less than the regular room, so we changed our booking. This was the best thing we did.

The Level is on the 7th floor, and has a private breakfast room, with an extensive buffet, and made to order egg dishes. During the afternoon, it is a lovely quiet lounge where you can have a drink (included) and then at 6pm they have Tapas (it is a Spanish chain) which were excellent, and made it unnecessary for us to go out to find a restaurant that first night. They were plentiful and tasty.

In the room the furnishings were smart and comfortable (my husband wanted me to buy a duvet just like the ones we had at Melia!) and there were tea and coffee making supplies.

All in all this is a lovely, well situated, well run, comfortable hotel, which is even greater when they give a special on The Level.

It would be sensible for hotels to give deals on their special rooms more often, as this visit certainly has me sold on returning to the Melia chain, and looking at rooms in The Level category.

Staying at the Melia Berlin Hotel one night for a business meeting the next day. The hotel is very clean and modern. The reception staff are very helpful and patient. There is a tapas bar in the hotel, with a very good atmosphere. We were given a 30 euro voucher to spend in the bar. Breakfast good, and also in a good location, within short walking distance of the trains. Would highly recommend this hotel, and stay again

Room Tip: They give you a choice of street / river view or a courtyard view, choose the street / river view...

I spent 2 days here in middle of November 2011. The location of the hotel is good, on the Spree...and on the Friedrichstrasse /this is the weak point/. Easily one can reach many important points, Museum Island, Alexanderplatz, Schlossplatz, the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag. To the Ku'damm you need S-train or Underground.
The hotel is mostly for business trips and good enough. The rooms are really spacious, absolutely clean and comfortable, with amenities in the nice bathrooms, good pillows and bed.
The only problem is when you get a room on the Friedrichstrasse /and lower floors/, there are trams, buses and big traffic. The sound-proofing is not enough for neutralizing that.
On the other side: the isolation is perfect, you'll never hear any noises from the other rooms or from the floor.
The breakfast is absolutely on high level, wide variety of foods, good service.
Ask for a room on Soree-side, and you'll have good time in Melia.

Placed strategically in the upper part of Friedrichstrasse, Melia Hotel is an excellent place to start your walks through Berlin. For those fond of exploring cities on foot, Melia provides a spot from where you can plan al your daily trips. The room price includes breakfast, which has a great variety of food, fresh fruits, cereals, etc. Rooms are spacy enough, very clean and well maintained. The only things I was not particularly impressed with were that wi-fi internet is charged (EUR 20 for 10 hrs! - which, to be fair, you can use during the course of your stay, you just have to bear in mind to turn off the wi-fi option on your smart phones, iPads etc.). The problem is if you are on a business trip, internet connection is something you really need. Also, the only English programs on TV are BBC and CNN, for all others you have to pay EUR 5). I think that, for a hotel of this category, these services could be complimentary).

Room Tip: All rooms are sound proof, so it does not matter which side it faces
