Comfortable, well lit rooms and adequate dining. Pity they still charge for internet use.

It is not smack in the heart of the tourist district but it is only a Km or so on foot to the Museum Island (if you have invested in a good map). The U Bahn makes that even more accessible, and it will be better once the new line running down Unter Den Linden is complete (September 2013).

Consider whether you want the museums, for which the location is pretty good, or the Kurfurstendamm shopping area. If the latter is your interest, this is really not the best location for your stay. That is a journey of about 5 Km, although again, this is perfectly do-able with the U Bahn.

We did have a few small complaints detailed below but they were dealt with quickly and courteously.

We though the quilt was a bit thin and the pillows inadequate but a call to reception resulted in a second quilt and more pillows being delivered in half an hour.

One night the housekeeper did not replenish the tea and coffee, but again a call to reception resulted in supplies being promptly delivered.

One evening at the restaurant my wife's salmon was undercooked but a complaint resulted in a speedy replacement. That particular night there was a large party dining in the restaurant and I think the kitchen staff were struggling to cope.

I also found out that the phone in the hotel did not provide an outside line. Reception were happy to make a call for me to confirm a pick up time. I had wrongly thought the shuttle company were not answering their phone, but the problem was the room telephone.

So a few niggles but the staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke good English.

If you are on a budget you will probably be quite happy. I did not use the spa area. I am told there is ample parking so that would be an attraction for business travellers but I went by shuttle bus from the airport, then used the U bahn.

Without the minor niggles I would have awarded four stars.

HOWEVER: I made the mistake of giving the hotel my debit card instead of my credit card. For three days afterwards my bank account showed spurious transactions amounting to £450. They have now been reversed off. I am told that this is not uncommon if you let a hotel have your debit card, but it was a new experience for me and quite took the shine off what was otherwise a good vacation.

Everything just works perfectly. We arranged a four day course and a 40 person meet-up at this hotel, and everything regarding the course, meet-up and personal stay worked perfectly. The service was flawless, food and catering very good and I have actually nothing to complain about. This is not a luxury hotel, but high standard anyway. The location from the tourism and business point of view is also good. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: My room was on the first floor (109), and there were no disturbances.

This is a quality hotel with a great spa area including a pool and sauna. Location is great too with 5 star rooms to rival all the big chains.

There are others in the same area such as the Ritz Carlton however I think this hotel is much better priced. The breakfast is a must with freshly made pancakes! A really good buffet!

This hotel is located very conveniently in the center of Berlin. The nearest Metro station is Spittelmarkt. Using the public transport in the Berlin you can get to every part of the city very quickly.

The staff at his hotel were surprisingly warm and welcoming. I travelled in from Austria where the people are generally very cold and discourteous, so this hotel was a very welcomed contrast. Even housekeepers have a grasp on English which made it easy for me to ask them to come clean a little later so I could sleep in. The internet isn't cheap but it works very well. I ate once at the in-house restaurant, and it's decent, but there are better restaurants that are just a few minute's walk away.

The rooms were very clean and modern, as expected from Courtyard hotels. Again, the location is great, only minutes from all the major central sites.

Room Tip: The hotel isn't very tall, so there aren't any rooms with a breath-taking view.

comfortable hotel, very good breakfast, conveniently located -close to Check Point Charlie and the Topography of Terror. It is also right beside a metro stop-which is very handy for getting around.

Limited lunch menu is offered, but all else is good. The restaurant staff are a lot friendlier and smiley than the front of house staff.

Rooms all very clean, and polite staff, also hotel is a decent price for being so central in Berlin-it is perfect for a short break!!

We stayed here for a night on the new years eve and the rooms are OK - Typical Courtyard style and nothing different.

Location: Unless you are familiar with the city and have a good GPS, it might not be easy to find as it is not on the Main Street, but you will not miss it. The hotel is with in walking distance to the subway station - spittelmarkt and from here you can connect to any touristic attraction. Location wins!!

Rooms: The rooms are of decent size, bathroom, shower is OK - wish they could have provided extra toiletries instead of just one each - when I came across the cleaning staff, I have asked them if I can have an extra one, they were not too courteous to provide it to us, little strange. The towels are just standard, not too comfy.

Front desk staff: They are OK and just do their job. Unlike in US, they don't thank for being a platinum member or welcoming to their hotel of if they need any assistance with anything.

Room Service & Bar: The ladies at the bar are friendly and courteous. we ordered the food at the bar and asked us to bring it to room, they did it - Very nice.

Parking - It is not free and it cost you 20 euro per day. It is not bad for a city like Berlin and is a covered parking.

Unless you're young and spry, I'd suggest using using taxi to get here, particularly if traveling at night. I arrived after dark (after 4:30 PM in the winter season here and with two heavy bags). The public BVG transport office at Tegel Airport was difficult to locate and the directions were quite sketchy. Thank God for some very kind people on board the airport bus who got me from the end of the bus line at Alexanderplatz to the #2 U-Bahn. Three stops on the U-Bahn, off at the Spittelmarket stop and look for the Marriott Courtyard signage. Follow the signs to Axel-Springer Strasse and you are there (just be sure to turn left at the Motel One). I called a clerk three times from California for directions and still had some difficulties. The hotel is new, quiet, spotlessly clean, and with a very professional staff. It is within walking distance to Checkpoint Charlie, but most other notable sights are only reachable by public transport or taxi. The hotel does serve a delicious and varied breakfast but is on the pricey side. One plus at this hotel was free postage. Just hand over your postcards or letters to the clerks in the morning and they will see that they are delivered to the PO, weighed, posted, and mailed - a nice benefit for a moderately priced hotel.

Room Tip: Try to get a room above floor four. There are only six floors. There is a "Wellness Club"...
