Stayed here for a week in 3 different rooms, first in a single room for only 35 Euros a night (aprox 45 US Dollars) wich was a bit small for a doubleroom, but plesent for one person, since the bed was a doublebed and everyhing was ok clean

Then a friend came and we stayed at the hotels best room, a Junior Suite. This room was huge and had a nice balcony with view to the Kurfürstedamm, one of Berlin top shoppingstreets. This is one of the few rooms with a tube, and since its hardly is rentet i guess it had a funny smell in the beginning. The first day though the toilet was broken, so we got the key to the 4 bed room next door, wich also seemd ok for a niht ore two if you are some friends going to Berlin

Every morning theres a nice breakfast, maybe not as big as of the Ritz - but hey, the breakfast alone would cost you the 35 Euros, so I think its pretty need. And the frontdeskstaff is quite nice, trying to help you in every way :)

Stayed here for 7 nights Christmas 2010. After turning down first room offered (due to smell of smoke) were given great room at back of hotel overlooking garden. Couldn't fault the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the location is superb for walking (15 minutes) into the centre of Berlin. You must bear in mind that Berlin is a BIG City so it's debatable where the centre actually is! Convenient also for buses (2 mins) and trains (5 mins). There was always plenty of food at breakfast and also plenty of hot water. Weather outside was well below freezing but the hotel's heating system more then adequate. It's a jlittle jaded but worth it's 3* rating. Lots of good eating places close by.

very friendly and helpful staff; fast and economical bus connection to Tegel (€2.10 each way); great location on a side street off the Ku'damm (convenient to public transportation); our large room included 4 beds plus a pull-out couch; charming balcony; bathroom was rather small

Our room had been very recently renovated and all furnishings were i very good shape. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Garni Astrid!

Hotel Astrid's really conviniently located on a bus route from Tegel airport, the ride takes only about 20 mins. The area is a bit posh, but close to shopping and the Tiergarten park with good connections by inner-city trains.
The hotel is a bit worn-out, but the room itself was better with a good-sized bathroom. The bed was really uncomfortable and the blanket and pillows quite used, but the bed linen was clean as well as the rest of the room. The room was very high, which gave it a nice spacious feel.
Breakfast was good with a lot of choice and fresh produce.
Some of the staff spoke no english at all, though it seems they understood some of it.
Although there're no big complaints, I probably wouldn't stay again.

Room was adequate (though safe did not work) but shower was a bit difficult to access. There was a reasonable selection for breakfast, including boiled eggs if you're not late. Staff were friendly, particularly the manageress who spoke decent English. Entrance is on the 1st floor up a long staircase but there is an antiquated lift. As others have said, it has an excellent location - take the S-bahn from Savignyplatz to Alexanderplatz to get a wonderful overview of the city. Our favourite restaurant was Lubitsch, several hundred metres towards the S-bahn in the same road as the hotel.

The location of the hotel is pretty close to perfect.
The standard of the hotel is not very high, but neither is the price.
In fact we just had to spend one night in Berlin on a budget and for that the hotel is perfect. The rooms were not very fancy but OK. Combined with the location (very safe neighborhood, by the way...), I think that it is very good value as long as you don't expect to find The Mariott or The Hilton.
Breakfast was decent as well.

Great value for money, a few meters of Ku-damm, one block from U-bahn, 2 blocks from S-bahn on a street with lots of restaurants. Small, clean "no frills" hotel with friendly staff. Only drawback is that some of the staff have very little command of english (not uncommon in Germany). Parking on the street outside was easy since we came in on a sunday but may be tricky otherwise. If you like us stay for a couple of nights to see Berlin and the hotel is just a sleeping place for a few hours a day then this is a great choice.
